So the food industry makes a fortune out of us then the pharma people make another fortune.
Is it possible to remove a topic from "I'm on"
🦞 The Lockdown Gang still chatting 🦞
I am starting Mounjaro next week, I have 5 stone to lose. Have any gnetters used this successfully? Any tips?

Yes, I joined pears/apples thread a good while ago….my weight is going down through calorie counting and exercise…but during the years it has fluctuated with holidays and events…no one is critical on the thread when I put on…..sometimes we go off topic but it’s friendly and sound advice……
Like nankate says, hope who has the jabs they get results they want…..
I think with this heat wave it would melt my fat away but sadly no lol….
Anyone who doesn't have trouble keeping the weight off should realise if they don't already that some people's bodies/builds/ metabolisms are different and some people will always struggle to keep it off.
pier david's deer/ antelope/ zebra/ water buffalo. Some bodies are just genetically pre-determined to be bigger.
My OH eats what he wants/when he wants/ as much as he wants and struggles to gain.
My Irish peasant ancestors gifted me a sturdy , stocky body that will gain if I eat too much chocolate/ cake/cream/wine cheese.
I don't blame people for taking the W Loss jabs because it's such a struggle and why should that aspect of life always be so hard?
At the same time I salute Whiff's persistence and self-control in her marathon loss.
I have heard that the Mountjaro losses reverse quickly if the drug is withdrawn.
I found that when I was given Alphetamines for weight loss in the eighties. Appetite and pounds came roaring back after the tablets finished.
Good luck everyone in the fight. Life's too short.
Thanks shirleyW 👍
Week 7 and I've lost exactly 1stone
Still having to use will power but thankfully the urge to drink wine and eat cheese in the evening has gone.
It was my birthday last week and I had a small birthday cake as a real treat
Lots online/in the news about price increase. I've decided I shall continue with mounjaro no matter what it costs. I feel so much better mentally and physically. Am hoping once I get to target (hopefully in November) I can manage without the drug, fingers crossed.
Well done to all those who have changed their lifestyles by eating less and moving more, heroes
Good luck everyone whichever road you decide
I'm moving on
According to Research the Do work scientifically tested to work

Week 9. Lost 17lbs, eating sensibly. Exercising, although advised by physio to rest arm this week due to shoulder injury
Hoping others on WLI will join this thread. My GP, nurse, orthopedic surgeon are all supporting me on this journey
Oh as is physio
Totally agree that calorie deficit by diet and exercise is the best way to lose weight.
When younger I used to be able to slim down that way but with age it became much harder. I still lost a few pounds then basically plateaued for a year, finally tried the jabs and worked well for me.
Mounjaro now too expensive to continue so switched to Wegovy with online pharmacy Medexpress.
Unlike others they have been really good during the surge in orders recently due to sudden price hikes and made the switch easy.
Still not cheap but using discount codes do help lower the costs, plenty out there if you search for them though lots now no longer being accepted.
If interested, the code AW437 is still working to get £40 quid off at MedExpress but other codes now saying 'reached limit' or 'expired'.
I've never had any side effects but obviously weight-loss injections are not suitable for everyone and reputable pharmacies will only prescribe if safe for your individual health profile.
I want to try mounjaro aged 64 height 5’2 and weight 10st 6.
Although my bmi is just under 30 my last gp tests show I’m prediabetic.
I know several ladies at gym around same body size as me seemingly getting it online. I’ve tried several sites now, including right street chemists but after doctor consultation they refuse it.
I’ve struggled with yo-yoing for years, pist menopausal tried all diets, slimming clubs and use the gym three times a week. I’m careful what I eat, small portions, healthy options but can’t shift this stone.
An suggestions of how I can buy the jabs?
I have been using these jabs, and without them I would have been lost.
Though I hit a major plateau which has got me down, but with some positive comments on here I am back with determination to get the last 10lbs gone. Already shed 5 stone, and so much happier.
I picked Mounjaro as it has the ingredient for insulin resistance which was making weightloss virtually impossible ( maybe half a pound a week on a 600 cal a day diet), the struggle was not worth the reward.
I found the jabs took away the food noise and the need to nibble every time I opened the fridge door. But also meant if I ate something too oily or too much sugar I ended up with diarrhea. A good deterrent!!!
Best tip though is protein and fibre. In my case my husband is into weight training so found me suitable protein bars and shakes, and I use chia seeds to keep my fibre intake up. I think I lost my way on this a bit as you miss eating a nice meal - not even that you want a big meal just a child's size, but I lost a lot of pleasure you get from a Sunday roast.
Good luck with the rest of your journey.
Good tip above regarding protein and a convenient source that my youngest son recommended to me are the yoghurt pouches.
25g protein but only 145 calories - available in most supermarkets but best value and taste (for me) are the 95p Aldi ones (made in same German factory as the Danone branded ones).
I'm still using Medexpress for my weight loss jabs and the discount code I shared previously still works (won't post it again on this message as it feels a bit pushy to do so but hope it saves you a bit of money)
An update as I have not been on gransnet for a while. I started on WLI on 7 October 2024 at 16.12. More or less a year later I am 10.7.
I am a new person and I feel great. I have concentrated on eating well and retraining my awful eating habits.
I am now reducing my injections, I only went up to 10mg and its going well, I have maintained for nearly 2 months.
I would encourage others to try them if they have tried everything else. They truly are a miracle drug.
