My daughter friend has offerd him her plimsolls but they are just as tatty should I make him wear those instead

Keeping this going - a friend has a long standing grudge against his mother for making him go to school in Wellington boots because his school shoes had been soaked in a lunch time rain storm. My mother made me wear a pair of furry ankle boots to school in the early sixties. I was so embarrased by them but they would be fashionable now.

As a child in Essex we all got free plimsolls in school as we needed them. I think they came from the Bata factory. Sometimes they were new sometimes they were worn first by other kids. Those came with free athletes foot or free varruccas.

I think these threads have been set up by GNHQ, and on 1st April the original poster will come on to say she has bought her son some nice black lace-ups from Clarkes. And then it will all come out in the open. The most ambitious April fool joke in the history of the internet.

This thread has brought back memories of a lovely pair of pumps I had back in the day. They were Dunlop and they were white. I wore them all through one long hot summer, lovingly whitened every night so as to be pristine for the next day. They were so comfy, oh how I loved them.
We played out all day every day and had 4d to spend, a Snowfruit, 3d and a BoBo bubblegum 1d. The Snowfruit soon went but the bubblegum lasted for hours, it took lots of concentration to blow the biggest bubble.
Thank you Liza80 for helping me resurrect that lovely memory.
