In the mid 80 s when I graduated, no one got a First, , a handful got a 2:1, most got a 2:2 which was a perfectly decent grade then and a few got a Third. . How many thirds are given these days? Probably none. No one wants a 2:2 and a 2:1 is a disappointment. All because grades have been devalued with so many First's.
GCSE’s similar, A’s all the way and even an A isn’t quite enough because they failed to achieve an A*.
I feel for those who worked hard and ‘only’ got a B or C. Once perfectly acceptable, but no longer.
My gc are still young, but wonder when it’s their turn, how many stars will have been added.
