Hope For Estranged Grandparents

I’ve read some posts where people feel it is not worth the fight to see their grandchildren and others which suggest grandparents don’t have such rights - which is correct.

The fact in such matters though is that the rights belong to the children, including rights to see their grandparents unless there is a very good reason why not - and that Is where most arguments lay and a compelling and realistic case has to be made to support 'why not'?

How am I so sure? The Family Court has given me permission to see my grandchildren on a regular basis. Cafcass had no objections to, nor hesitation in recommending, access and the court was able to see that the cutting off of contact was not about the children but about the parent.

The court has enabled me to restart the lovely relationship I always had with my grandchildren.

Do not be afraid to go to court if it is the only way you can speak to your grandchildren. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Good luck

Why is it always the same posters who come flocking to a thread as soon as it begins to get a bit unruly. Does Smileless switch on her bat signal or something? What’s the deal?

Madgran77 Wed 24-Jun-20 20:18:20

every situation is different.

Yup!

Starblaze Wed 24-Jun-20 20:20:48

Chewbacca I appreciate the opportunity to witness the abuse cycle in action.

MissAdventure Wed 24-Jun-20 20:22:20

Ah, that old chestnut.
Nobody is being abused.

It's a discussion, that's all.
Lots of different views, all of which are allowed.

Chewbacca Wed 24-Jun-20 20:23:16

Indeed MissA, increasingly frequently trotted out too.

Starblaze Wed 24-Jun-20 20:23:37

I would say that a lot of estranged parents and their enablers really don't have a clear idea of what abusive behaviour even is.

Starblaze Wed 24-Jun-20 20:25:27

Because I only argue against harm to children and apparently that is a reason to continuously shut me down.

Starblaze Wed 24-Jun-20 20:26:15

I will argue against harm to children

until the end of time

MissAdventure Wed 24-Jun-20 20:26:57

You and every single other decent thinking person.

Starblaze Wed 24-Jun-20 20:30:20

Let's do that then MissA because it's becoming a bit of a metaphor of a cartoon scrap where there is just a dust cloud of flying fists and feet... But none of you have noticed that I've snuck out and I'm sitting at my garden table sipping a Pimms watching and laughing

Smileless2012 Wed 24-Jun-20 20:31:36

Too frequently trotted out Chewbacca. We are all arguing against the abuse of children Starblaze.

grin and there was me thinking it was you who always responded to someone's bat signal Motherofdragons.

Motherofdragons Wed 24-Jun-20 20:35:40

and there was me thinking it was you who always responded to someone's bat signal Motherofdragons

What a predictable response.

Get your own insults Smileless.

Chewbacca Wed 24-Jun-20 20:37:08

Dead right MissA; it's like only special people have the welfare of children at the forefront of all that's right and decent, whilst the rest of us are happy to use them as currency in family warfare.

Cheers Sarblaze enjoy! ?

Chewbacca Wed 24-Jun-20 20:37:59

Get your own insults Smileless.

Childish.

Starblaze Wed 24-Jun-20 20:45:58

MoD maybe we should just chat on the support thread for a bit because everyone is so nice there compared to other threads

Motherofdragons Wed 24-Jun-20 20:54:32

What a good idea, everyone is always their best selves on the support thread.

Smileless2012 Wed 24-Jun-20 20:56:17

For one moment then I thought I'd been transported back to the play ground at primary school but soon realised that "get your own insults" was too childish for primary school aged children.

Oh that's very sweet of you to say so Starblaze bearing in mind I'm a frequent poster on the support thread.

Starblaze Wed 24-Jun-20 21:06:21

Welcome Smileless I post there too! wink

Smileless2012 Wed 24-Jun-20 21:08:29

You don't need to welcome me Starblaze I post there all the time.

Motherofdragons Wed 24-Jun-20 21:12:39

For one moment then I thought I'd been transported back to the play ground at primary school but soon realised that "get your own insults" was too childish for primary school aged children

Any other response to you would have been met with feigned outrage, some lecture about language and an attempt to have my posted deleted.

So, since you can’t handle an adult interaction, I’ll give you a childish one. Although, maybe, don’t use an emoji when snidely responding to me. Now that’s childish!

Motherofdragons Wed 24-Jun-20 21:15:19

You don't need to welcome me Starblaze I post there all the time

Do you?

Someone called Smileless definitely posts there, but it is not the same one that posts elsewhere.

Starblaze Wed 24-Jun-20 21:23:44

Smileless You said it was sweet of me to say, I said "welcome" meaning "you are welcome".

Is there anything I can say you can't put a negative spin on? Doesn't it exhaust you?

Maybe one day you will except that I am just me, I have no other profiles, Im not responsible for anything anyone else says and I've only been here for about a year (? Can't exactly remember) and stop the ridiculous campaign you and your long term. Friends here have going against me just because occasionally we don't agree.

I'm not really into arguments, I just make silly jokes that mostly only I understand. I don't mind though cos I'm still laughing.

One minute you are nice and supportive, the next you are answering me for other people and dragging it out and.... Urgh. You know what I mean, you are the one doing it and other things you know annoy me (even though after a while I just go meh, there she goes again).

Stop now? or are you enjoying it? If so I'll pour another Pimms

Chewbacca Wed 24-Jun-20 21:39:35

Have another Pimms. Cheers! ?

Starblaze Wed 24-Jun-20 22:09:11

Chewbacca Well I was going to do that anyway lol
