Started another one as I my last post had reached the forty limit. Trust I have done it correctly x

Wow some talented ladies there Whiff, they are really good, well done you lot👍🙂

Allsorts Tue 01-Oct-24 20:56:52

Bridie, no water today although its tipped down, I did hit it a few times, many times I break offending item but now and then its cured for a bit longer. Hope you find your dog, you have to love it.
Yoga, Incant understand your nasty neighbour, he must be very unhappy.
Whiff, well done all of you from your art class. Do hope you get together soon.

Babs03 Tue 01-Oct-24 22:57:31

Agree with Bridie22 what a talented lot you are Whiff, and so nice to exhibit your hard work like that so that others can see what you have done.
Wish I could make something like that, note to self, join a class when we move.
As for a doggy Yogi we are now looking but know it is silly because we will be moving so have to wait until we settle. Never thought we’d do it again, Scout was one of a kind, helped us through the worst of our estrangement, always seemed to know when I was at my lowest and would stay close. A hard act to follow.
Well had another great day in Bath, late to bed because met another couple as well as the Canadian couple and we sat for ages putting the world to rights.
Will report back tomoro.
Hope all is well with Smileless, Allsorts, Jaffa and Sparkly Gran.
And anyone else who isn’t mentioned.
Take care xxx

Whiff you talented lady, congratulations. You have a point about my daffs maybe being dormant.
My crocus and tulip bulbs arrived. I might cover the little pots I will plant them in with a see through plastic builders sheet over winter. See if that saves them from drowning. We get a lot of rain here too.
Yoga that programme is great, also on ITV sometimes, Davina McCall does a Find a Family which is usually about finding birth parents and/or siblings. I had my DNA done too and the results are fascinating.

Babs03 sounds like you’re enjoying Bath, some self treating is lovely.

Daffs can be temperamental, we planted bulbs one year but nothing came up then a year later they were an absolute joy. My favourite flowers.
We also watch the long lost families and foundlings programmes with Davina and Nicky, I cry every time, but is so fascinating.
And we did our dna test kit last Xmas.
I know that I have Scottish ancestry but turns out I have Irish roots as well.

It will be something to look forward to in the future Babs, you never replace a pet that has meant so much but it’s easy to fall in love with another with his or her own character.
I watch the programmes with long lost families. Mother's who had to through difficulties give babies up just after birth. Often think if I had done that my daughter might have loved me. I adored her from the moment she was born and did my best but it meant nothing to her she only wants me gone.
Sparkly just planted another 30 bulbs but the squirrels sit waiting, I saw them go and dig them up. Nothing deters them. Nothing. I have tried. I have planted a huge pot full, covered it with netting and so far its still on but they will be in the background deciding their assault strategy.

Well done Whiff I like the moon ones. Which ones are yours?

Yoginimeisje Wed 02-Oct-24 09:05:20

Allsorts He's not normal, no normal person would do what he's doing. I said to some friends & my S&D I wanted to confront him, but they all advised me not too. Really hard holding my togue though. Will see what happens this weekend, with my son finishing the drive and see where he reparks his car after it's once per week move.

Yoginimeisje Wed 02-Oct-24 09:08:54

Babs you can still look, even though you must wait until after your move. The rescue centre would say this, if your about to move they wouldn't let you take a dog home. But if you think the move will take a year or more, you could go ahead now.

Yoginimeisje Wed 02-Oct-24 09:16:51

Allsorts The squirrels sat eating the top buds of my Rosa blooms. I do love watching the squirrels, they are funny, my little dog would ignore them until these last few months, now he chases them off, I tell him off but he doesn't listen!

Gemma Collins mum was left in the hospital after being born. So sad, she was there for 2 weeks and then fostered.

Yoginimeisje Wed 02-Oct-24 09:29:42

Here's the naughty squirrel:

Bridie22 Wed 02-Oct-24 13:09:59

If you feed the naughty one with some peanuts he might leave the bulbs alone Yogin 🤣
They are funny to .

I do think Squirrels are cute despite them demolishing our plant pots, a man on the street next to ours apparently shoots them with an air gun a neighbour told me, which I think is shocking but not illegal because it is seen as managing pests. Some people are just weird like Yogis neighbour, I mean what is wrong with these people.
Anyway a tour of the Roman Baths this morning followed by lunch in a pub. We’re due to visit the Jane Austen museum this afternoon but DH is flagging. Tbh we have both struggled with energy levels since having covid and might have pushed things a bit so he is having a nap in our hotel room. It is likely that he now has a sinus infection which will need antibiotics. The man on reception said we should try the pharmacy in town, that they now sometimes dispense antibiotics, not sure he can be right but will try when he wakes up.
Take care all xx

Evening everyone.

So pleased you're enjoying your holiday in Bath Babs and haven't let the weather spoil it. I'm keeping my finger crossed even though it makes typing difficult grin. We all know how important it is to move forward, and sometimes that means throwing caution to the wind, so you're right to put in an offer.

No news on a completion date so hopefully it will be the 11th. I feel for our buyers because I know how desperate they are to move in and make our old home their new one.

You've done so well with your decluttering Allsorts and put yourself in a good position if you do decide to move. I hope you'll soon get your window repaired, there's nothing worse than water getting into your home as I know only too well.

I'm not surprised they didn't want to use little Joey's picture, we've all seen him and know how handsome he is. I hope your car's still behaving and you don't have anymore problems. Sounds as if your new neighbours may be a little squashed in their home but hopefully they'll be an ally when it comes to your nasty neighbour.

Your priest was spot on Sparkly, some families are a blessing but some family members can be a curse.

Lovely pics of the art exhibition Whiff you must all be very proud of your accomplishments.

So Mr. S. isn't the only one with squirrel problems. He's put up bird feeders and keeps complaining that they wont leave his nuts alone grin.

The wildlife here is a great unexpected bonus. Lots of birds, rabbits, a couple of hedgehogs and I even spotted a hare last night shock.

Boiler at our old house was repaired yesterday and we've been notified that our furniture etc goes to auction next week, but we've had to email them as a couple of items appear to be missing confused.

Loving it here but still feel a bit in limbo which I thin will pass when we complete on the sale.

Whiff Thu 03-Oct-24 05:59:36

Yogin these are my 4 I framed but didn't put in the green one as I liked the other 3 better . Hope you son gets time too tidy up . Unfortunately if you have a nutjob for a neighbour if you confront them they only get worse .. Where I used to live the neighbour across the road always backed on to my drive when getting off his drive as he drove on instead of backing onto his own . I did ask him not to do it then the rotter back all the way up my drive . I then said one day I will put tacks on my drive and you will end up with 4 flats he didn't do that again . His wife was with him when I said it so I think it's his wife who told him off otherwise he would have continued.

Whiff Thu 03-Oct-24 06:13:51

Allsorts squirrels are pests they have dug my bulbs in the past but I find it's worse when they bury things and find tree saplings growing because they forgot where they planted their nuts. At the local nursery at the church round the corner from me the children put out peanuts in their shells and forever finding shells in my garden .
The worst was when I had a squirrel in my loft it sounded like it was trying to dig it's way threw the ceiling spent the night at my daughter's and pest control came out the next day. He got rid of it. Then my roofer put hard uPVC that was hinged and part slipped under the tiles and into the gutter so no gaps for anything to get in plus he sealed the joint on the roof between next doors tiles with a heat sealed no idea what but it's silver. She didn't mind as as it sealed her side as well.

Whiff Thu 03-Oct-24 06:50:06

Babs sounds like you are having a good time at Bath. Looking forward a dog now is giving you something to look forward to in the future hopefully you have a buyer soon and can get the bungalow you like.

Bridie thank you . I used to feed the birds at my old house but didn't have a squirrel problem. Don't feed them here but made did make a pond out of a large planter . I saw it on Gardners world Adam had made pond out of old water tanks but said any planter could be used . Put plenty of rocks some jutting out so the little birds and bees can get a drink without falling in . Put oxygen plants that float and put 2 plants in using the right soiled in a basket lined with
muslin and topped with gravel to stop the soil escaping. Always top it up in the summer from my water butt . Found a frog in my garden this year so put a stone ramp so hopefully next year have frog spawn.

My dad made a pond out of an old bath and put in waterlilies that bloomed every year. He had newts and frogs in it. Our friends always came with a jar for some frog spawn and dad gave them some .

Smiles my brother puts out hedgehog food at night and has 6-8 come every night . All the village have hedgehog holes in their fences .
But he doesn't put it out until Aggie has been out before bedtime . As she eat it once and had upset tummy. Hedgehog food does not agree with
dogs digestion.

Meet up with the others who couldn't come on Tuesday and loved seeing their work up. We went for a pub lunch and spent 3 hours there. If we laughed as much as we did yesterday we would never have gotten any work done during class. Hoping to meet up again soon . And it may not be the end of our class if we can find a different venue and a way to pay our teacher. But I said I would pay for lessons . The Brain Charity funded her for 12 weeks . She is going back to uni to do her masters but would have time to teach us 2 hours a week but can't do it for free. But we didn't expect her to . So what this space.

Hopefully completion goes through soon as until it does you are responsible for the house . Glad the boiler got fixed. My down pipe on the garage got blocked and rain went into the garage but got it fixed but didn't tell my buyer . Their solicitor being a pain as it was . Only way exchange and completion went through was because my solicitor threatened to report her to the bar council. I should have moved in the May but didn't until the August. Think she was stretching out her bill . Where as my solicitor only charged me what we agreed from the start and never charged extra when my 2 buyers pulled out.

But moving was well worth all the stress and worry.

Often wonder if DerbyshireLass moved out of the rented bungalow and found a place to buy !.

Allsorts Thu 03-Oct-24 08:26:50

Whenever I think of Derbyshire Lass I think of the velvet cord to keep the family in order.
Think it’s an excellent idea Whiff, funding yourself or could meet up once a month or every other month and enjoy a pub lunch together and a laugh.

Yes, I do feed them nuts & fat & seeds in a coconut, but being naughty squirrels, they eat my flowers buds too angry grin

Yoginimeisje Thu 03-Oct-24 09:06:03

How did you get the laughing face on your post Birdie, there isn't one below. GN should update their smileys.

Yoginimeisje Thu 03-Oct-24 09:15:35

Hope your H feels better & gets some joy from the local pharmacy Babs

Smiles how lovely all that wild life around you. It takes a while to settle into your new home, even with it being lovely, you are still adjusting to the new.

When I lived in Africa we had a Hare as a pet, think we must have found it as a baby. It would do it's jobs in a liter try we put in the w.c. he/she was lovely and friendly. He/she had a big outside pen to play in, but one it was gone, I think some had him/her for dinner sad

Yoginimeisje Thu 03-Oct-24 09:20:17

Very nice Whiff
I think my nutjob neighbour's wife would like to be friendly, I think she is a down-trodden wife. To see his car parked outside our house, with his big driveway, enough for 2 cars, standing empty, with another space over the front, makes my blood boil, I really do want to pull him about it.

Yoginimeisje Thu 03-Oct-24 09:25:45

That's sounds great Whiff and exactly what I am looking to do right now. Looked on market place for large cooper garden pot to turn into pond, expensive at about £90, but none in my area, I'm trying Amazon in a bit.

Whiff Thu 03-Oct-24 10:14:58

Yogin do you have free to buy site in your area . One of my crafty friends had a brand new bed and mattress from by her . The person giving it away put in the bedroom and decided it did look right. Mattress was still sealed in the plastic the bed has a large pale grey suede head board and under bed drawers. Her ex husband has a van so picked it up. I have advertised on our local one and got rid of some things . The stuff was still good but I didn't want it and to big to get to charity shop. Worth a look .
