The surprise party was a great success yesterday.
Just waiting for my lodgers to arrive this afternoon

Estrangement
Support and friendship for those whose lives have been affected by estrangement.
(1000 Posts)Just as we know the pain and anguish that words of anger, bitterness and sometimes hate can cause, we also know the power of words to comfort, support, understand and sometimes help to heal.
This is and always has been the reason for this support thread, it's why it was started so long ago and why it continues. The fact that true friendships are made as regular posters share much of their lives with one another, good and bad, is a wonderful bonus there for all who continue to post and for new comers too.
Thinking of you both Babs03. Take care.
Yoga, i do have honey every day which my farm shop says is local but found it is from a place thirty mikes away, so might as well get it from the co-op.
Allsorts co-op may be from Europe as is Lidls.
I saw my niece today, avoiding the topic of estrangement. After baking with my great niece, she is at that awkward teen age, I remarked that they were so alike and just as I remember my niece at that age. My niece replied "I know, that's how I realised there was nothing wrong with me growing up and I didn't deserve my childhood". I can tell you that broke my heart. I do not know how to help my dear sister, she has never been an easy person to get on with but I still love her dearly. She is 6 years my senior and moved out and married young. Perhaps I missed something? My niece looked so tired and worn saying that.
Maybe you did miss something Luminance. No one really knows what goes on 'behind closed doors'
.
Just a quick update unfortunately Mr B is still fighting infection which is now effecting his liver and kidneys and Babs as you might imagine is having a very hard time .
My heart goes out to them Whiff
.
Such a hard time for Babs, thinking of her and dh and family.
Morning everyone.
It's lovely and sunny here this morning and the strong cold winds we had yesterday have gone.
I had my first game of golf on Monday and it went surprisingly well. I actually managed to hit the ball which Mr. S. assured me many 'first timers' struggle with and my putting's rather good, which is probably due to the hours we spent on amazing crazy golf courses when we had our property in Florida
.
I'm glad I enjoyed it. The 9 hole golf course is very well kept and it would be a shame not to make use of it as it is literally on our door step, and is an activity we can do together.
I hope that there's been some improvement for Mr. B. Babs; you are in my prayers daily and in my thoughts constantly
x
Oh I do love a game of golf. Unfortunately I am working remotely and can only stare wistfully at the garden through the window today.
My best wishes to Babs and family.πΊ
Sending best wishes to Babs from me too x
Yogin never said glad your surprise party went well and hope you had a good time with your lodgers .
Luminance bet you loved cooking with your great niece . I can't comment further as I don't know the if there is estrangement and who with. I know how much I love cooking with my grandsons it's always cakes or biscuits. At least they are both good at rolling out biscuit dough. I have a collection of different shapes for them to use. I haven't used a rolling pin for years due to my hands . So the biscuits I made for my craft group I call lumps as I just spoon out the dough and it does it's own thing.
Smiles you are now a singing golf. The idea tickles me . I have visions of you singing in between shots. Even though I know you have to be quiet when golfing . Loved crazy golf when the children where young of course I always lost . The strangest place we played was on a cliff top over looking the sea on the island of Aye . Lucky my family blocked any of the balls I hit from going into the sea but there must have been dozens of balls down there.
My daughter and family been in Spain for the week back today. We had better weather here for a while until it went cold and rainy. Had my normal week both exercise classes.plus the monthly craft group which changed venue to the church cafe round the corner from me. All tea and coffee free due to grant the Wombles had . One of the founders asked me if I wanted money for making the biscuits she had asked before when I took cake . But said no as it was my choice to make them . It's what I enjoy doing plus I get to have some . Can't make it just for me as I have no control and a cake or batch of biscuits might last 2 days but usually gone in a day π±. Funny enough in the 5 years I went to my weekly craft group was never asked that question. When I went to the Brain Charity one was asked the same question.
I don't miss my weekly craft group. I still keep in touch with 2 of the members in fact coming to lunch next Saturday.
Hope you all have a good Easter π°.
Will let you know if I hear from Babs about Mr B.
Morning all
Lovely and sunny again.
Thanks for asking Whiff; Did have a great party, everything went well. Still have my lodgers, very cute, but I'm afraid very smelly! I've cleaned them out twice, but still smelly
. DD came home last night, so little darlings leaving this morning. I joked when my DD txt about when to collect them, saying There is a problem I'm afraid What? I told the GP they are going home and they said they want to stay with nannie, where it's peaceful & quiet
I think she thought I'd lost one
.
Smiles great you have taken up golf with your DH. My step.m.i.l took it up when she retired, became a champion cup winner!
I really wish I lived near you Whiff, I could be your cake testerπ€£
Good on you Smileless, what a good move you made, you sound really content, sending hugs and thoughts to Babsπ
Happy Easter to all, looking forward to my Easter egg,!
There is a quote , golf is a waste of a good walk snd that was my experience however many love it so I am in the minority and sure you will enjoy it Smileless,
Glad your party a success Yoga and as cute as your visitors are sure you will feel relief when they go home as I do.
Love and best dishes for a good Easter everyone with special thought to Babs and her dh π
Thanks all for best wishes. We are still hanging on in there as is Mr B. Are resigned now to the fact that he will in hospital for months and then will have to spend a month or so in a rehab hospital. All dependent upon him surviving this difficult phase.
Am now taking breaks, is either that or I will end up in the emergency room too.
Make sure you hold your other half close if you have one, or any other loved ones.
Life can suddenly just pull the carpet from under you.
Take care ππΎβ€οΈ
Thanks for keeping us in the picture Babs. You need breaks, sometimes just an hour on your own or going to get your hair done, time out to lift you a little. I used to feel guilty every time I left my husband until the staff told me to get breaks etc as I needed to be well. Life can indeed turn on a sixpence.π
Babs you must look after yourself. Last thing Mr B or the family need is for you to wear yourself out and become ill . You are in for a long haul with Mr B months not weeks to get him well again . Make sure you eat and drink and sleep as much as you can and try and do something that will relax you even if it's only for a short time . πΉ
Happy Easter everyone
My visitors left yesterday, had a massive clean-up and could then relax with a nice fish dinner and G&T.
Having a big family Easter dinner out today, so that will be lovely. Have my GDs Tuesday, possible sleep-over from Monday, with an Easter Egg Hunt of course.
for Babs and
to help you relax a bit xx
Morning everyone and 'Happy Easter'
.
Thank you for your update Babs. I can't begin to imagine what you're all going through but it's good that you are taking some breaks now. It's important that you pace yourself so that you can continue to be strong for dear Mr. B. and your DD's
x.
'the singing golfer'; that made me
Whiff, maybe I could start a new trend. I hope your DD enjoyed their Spanish holiday. No doubt the boys will be desperate to tell you all about it.
So your temporary lodgers have gone Yogin, I was going to ask if you'll miss them but suspect the answer will be a resounding 'no' from you and Joey.
I used to think that about golf too Allsorts and TBH was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. That was of course in no small part down to Mr. S. whose really good even though he rarely plays.
He won overall and managed a birdie at one hole and has a very good swing.
We had two of our new friends and neighbours for a BBQ last night and had a great evening. Any 'celebrations' are purely adult affairs now which are nice but I do wish we could have had just one Easter egg hunt with our GC; of course they're now too old for such things anyway
.
Yogin hope you had a lovely dinner with the family. And have fun at the Easter egg hunt .
I have a lovely video of my grandson's by my son and daughter in law take in 2020 . But haven't been able to watch it since the estrangement because I can hear my son's voice and see my pregnant daughter in law. But it always made me laugh. They had hidden chocolate eggs, bunnies and carrots in their lovely garden most under flower pots. While the youngest found carrots and rabbits he put them back he only wanted eggs . Did make me laugh especially as his dad tried to persuade him they where chocolate but he wasn't having it. And his brother gave him a few eggs as he had loads. The last still photo I have of them was holding their buckets ready for the hunt which is on my mantle piece .
Smiles glad you had a lovely BBQ with your never friends . Golf is very good exercise as it keeps your mind and body active. We never did Easter egg hunts with our children just gave them their eggs. So never been to one . My husband loved a large black magic Easter egg which used to be filled with chocolates his last one was in 2003. Do they still put chocolates inside the eggs ?
My daughter and grandsons popping round this morning so will hear all about there holiday . I don't buy Easter eggs and haven't since my husband died . The children decided they where to old at 20 and 16 so gave them money that year but not since . Never brought grandsons Easter eggs as both sets of parents said they had enough . Even though my hands hurt rolling out will make some biscuits and use Easter cutters for the boys.
Happy Easter everyone . ππ₯
Happy Easter Whiff, im sure the children will enjoy the Easter biscuits, lovely idea.
Happy Easter fellow grand setters (if you celebrate) and Happy Long Weekend for everyone else x
I genuinely hope your weather where you reside, is better than here.
Whiff I hope the biscuits you make are enjoyed by your DGC and their parents.
Morning Smileless good you enjoying adult BBQs and get togethers.
I hear you about missing egg hunts and seeing all family at this time of year.
Babs03 sorry to hear you on your DHs ongoing health crisis. May I ππ» for you all?
Strength, courage, family love to you all.
Sparkly xx
