54 are you kidding you're a youngster, I'm 20 yrs older than you and I wouldn't think twice about buying something that I liked. What does it matter what other people think anyhow. It's your life and life can be short make the most of it.{smile]
Go for it. As long as it's going to keep you warm and snug why worry about others ? You'll get to a stage later on in years when comfort and not style will be key.
I was wearing all kinds of nifty clothes at 54 so make the most of it. I go out this weather looking set for the North Pole but don't care a jot so long as the cold doesn't get at me.
Definitely buy it! The coats this season are very attractive, many of them furry or fluffy, and lovely colours. Not expensive either if you go to the right stores. I would buy one, I'm much older than you, but I've already got a similar one, bought ages ago.
I never think that I'm too old for fashion. I dress in a toned down version of what is in fashion at the moment, have my shoulder length hair dyed with blonde streaks at the hairdressers every six weeks. My Dd and Dgc and their friends usually mention how nice I look. So if they approve, I must look ok! Go for it ladasz, you'll look and feel fabulous.
Definitely go and get that coat tomorrow morning as soon as the shop opens! Then you've got all day to prance about in it; enjoy every second of happiness you can squeeze from it!
I love my teddy bear coat from Tesco (Florence & Fred, didn't realise it was a teddy bear coat until my daughter told me), I saw it, liked it, bought it. It's cosy and warm. I'm 69!
So yes definitely go for it, especially if you've always wanted one.
What everyone else says. I think you are probably young enough to be bothered by what others think about your decisions. I was 24 when you were born and nowadays I do exactly as I please, so I think you are hesitating because of your young(er) age. If the coat makes you happy, just go out and buy it and enjoy every minute that you wear it. Come back and tell us about it.
You're only 54, you've lost a shed load of weight (well done!!!), and you're now a trim size 16. You definitely need to start buying all the things you've been dreaming of - including this coat, which sounds fabulous! Go on, treat yourself. You like it, your partner likes it, so what's stopping you?
Go for it! I have a faux silver fox coat, worn in the evening and an ancient curly sheep coat, glad it’s comeback into fashion. No cold, wet or wind gets through it. Now I know how sheep can stand out in the cold!
54!! You're a youngster. And whatever your age if you want that coat so much, get it and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. If it brings back happy memories go for it. To be honest, these days you can wear what you like. Enjoy yourself
