The saying is that you should breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper for a healthy life. Did you have breakfast today? What was it? Was it healthy and nourishing ?

I had two slices of toast, butter (I love butter, whatever the health police say) and Marmite with four cherry tomatoes, followed by an apple.

Stewed dried apricots blended with low fat natural yoghurt with Oatibix flakes. Tea (no milk) in a mug the size of a small bucket.

nanapug Mon 13-Feb-12 16:28:45

Wholemeal toast with Benercol (makes me feel better!!), low sugar apricot jam and a cup of coffee. Lovely.....

Two weetabix with semi-skimmed milk - a treat as I usually have skimmed milk. And a cup of tea with skimmed milk. I love my first cuppa of the day.

Bowl of All Bran with Activia yoghurt and milk (and a cup of tea). Tomorrow I will have porridge with bran in it and 6 chopped up dates in it, too (with tea!)

6 cream crackers, covered in I Can`t Believe it`s not Butter, and black coffee, I`m sorry to say, with 2 sugars.
Lunch was 2 chicken sandwiches and weak black tea, no sugar.

bagitha Mon 13-Feb-12 17:21:03

I usually have two breakfasts. The first, usually soon after six o'clock, is a coffee with lots of full cream milk, and a homemade very nutty and seedy flapjack. About three hours later I then have another lotsamilk coffee and a thick slab of homemade brown bread (with added poppy, hemp and linseeds) with butter and marmalade.

Two china (it has to be china mugs first thing!) mugs of tea, in bed at 6 am made on alternate mornings by my husband - I like those best, with semi-skimmed milk and 1 sugar and Breakfast News. Then GF porridge, semi-skimmed milk and a little sugar at about 8 o'clock. Occasionally, for a treat (!!) 2 GF crumpets with real butter or toasted GF brown bread with real butter and raspberry jam or marmalade.

Toast (gluten free); dairy free spread and mannuka honey; black coffee (with some sugar) ...but if I'm going out, I tend to grab a dried fruit cereal bar (one that it wheat free)

I might breakfast like a king if I'm staying in a hotel ...but not every day wink

Anne58 Mon 13-Feb-12 18:51:41

Ooo dear, I am a bad woman! I only eat breakfast on a Sunday, and then it's more of a brunch, cooked breakfast (sometimes the full egg, bacon, sausage & mushrooms, sometimes scrambled eggs on toast) that we have around 11.30, 12 o'clock, with dinner at about 6pm.)

Weekdays/working days? Tea in a bone china mug, brought to me in bed by Mr Phoenix at around 7.15, hardly any milk, 3 sugars (yes, I know but I only have 1 cup of tea a day) and a cigarette.

There's no hope for me, is here??

nanachrissy Mon 13-Feb-12 19:42:00

Two slices of wheat free toast with my Lurpak (!) and three mugs of tea with almond/coconut/rice milk (not all at once!)

MaggieP Mon 13-Feb-12 20:28:01

Porridge with skimmed milk, raisins and a tsp of brother in law's honey. That keeps me feeling full until lunch whereas other breakfasts don't last as long!

goldengirl Mon 13-Feb-12 20:45:37

Special K with berries with some sliced peaches on top with full cream milk; small glass of orange & watermelon juice and 2 cups of black decaff coffee. My favourite meal of the day

Greatnan Tue 14-Feb-12 09:12:06

Porridge made with half fat milk, with bottled cherries and sultanas, heated in the microwave. Slow release energy - lasts me through to lunch at noon.
I have about eight cups of tea during the day, with half fat milk and no sugar , and one cup of coffee.
Once you decide to give up sugar, it takes only a few days and now I can't drink anything with even a tiny amount of sugar in it. Giving it up in coffee took a little longer. I don't have sugar on grapefruit or pancakes - it just tastes like grit to me. I prefer to use my calories on something nutritional, like nuts or raisins, a banana or an orange.
I prefer to have the main meal of the day around 6 pm, so lunch is usually something - beans, cheese, egg or sardines - on one slice of wholemeal bread, followed by an Activia lemon yoghurt.

JessM Tue 14-Feb-12 09:19:30

Porridge with dried blueberries (from Costco - they have a leetle added sugar) with a spoonful of ground flaxseed on top to crank up the fibre etc.
Sometimes a glass of lovely Kiwiappleandlime smoothie from Innocent.
Several mugs of tea. One milky coffee at some time later in morning.

boudoirbabe Tue 14-Feb-12 11:07:22

I took Mr Boudoir out for a Valentine's Day breakfast this morning (awww) and had very delicious porridge with prunes in ginger and lemon rind.

He was much less modern and had bacon and egg. He is a creature of habit (fortunately for me).

Mamie Tue 14-Feb-12 11:16:37

Muesli, yoghurt, wholemeal toast, butter, marmalade, red berry juice, tea. DGDs had a large bowl of porridge each.

FlicketyB Tue 14-Feb-12 17:06:32

I am really not a breakfast person although I do try to eat something most days and despite what they say, I do not end up either snacking during the morning or overeating at lunchtime. My $ year old DGD is the same, it is very difficult to get her to eat breakfast, she simply isnt hungry.

Yesterday and today I didnt have any breakfast and didnt miss it. During the very cold weather last week I generally had something(tinned spaghetti/baked beans/cheese/egg) on toast. I do not like sweet things and have visceral loathing of fresh milk so cereal/porridge is a non-starter. Outside cold weather if I do eat breakfast it is usually fruit juice, fruit and possibly a few nuts.
