Is Nigel Slater a dish, cos I've never seen him? When's he on?

I love his kitchen - can't watch it as England is playing and of course that is a matter of life or death.

I've one of his book - Diaries I think - really enjoy his simple take.
I am currently rather taken with Yotam Ottelenghi - middle eastern food. His latest book 'Jerusalem ' is on my birthday/xmas wish list.

Is it still on? What channel? or have I missed it

I've had a really busy day, housework, gardening, racking wine, mucking out chickens and when I finally collapsed in front of the telly with a well earned , DH informed me the footie was on. On a FRIDAY night? . I can't print what I said because I'd probably be excommunicated but it hit the spot. Now watching Clare Balding making a good job of hosting HIGNFY.

It amuses me that Nigel's so-called scraps in the fridge are always wrapped in paper and tied with string, and his dry ingredients are in jars. The dishes do look simple and tasty though - I have courgettes to use up so will make some pesto tomorrow.

My dry ingredients are in jars, shysal. We are about as rural as you can get so we have to be careful not to attract mice into the kitchen with flour in bags etc. I don't think that's Nigel Slater's reason for using them though. Didn't you just love the greengrocer's?

I love Nigel Slater and have most of his books. The best one is called something like '30 minute cookbook'.

Loved the look of the blackberry pork which we watched eating Nigella's sirloin streak recipe from the new book. Lovely!!

All my left overs are in jars in the fridge (seldom plastic) - a tip from my mum who would say nothing keeps stuff as fresh as glass and it gets really cold, so you have a 'fridge within a fridge' - and she was right!

I do so hate how they magnify the sound of his snorting, slurping and munching - then he says, "mm delicious" ... well he would, wouldn't he? Actually I hate cooking programmes - so sick of them, and antiques, and property development/buying in the sun etc. etc. Fed up to the back teeth with most of whats on the telly these days, So I switch off and look at Gransnet - much more interesting!

And as for come dine with me - I always want to say,' no thank you - I have a life.' Instead I keep my finger scrolling down trying to find something remotely interesting. What about a programme called 'Watch paint drying' - I might go for that as a preference Or 'Washing up - The Truth Behind It'. That'd be good.
