I buy venison from Lidl, love it!

LOVE Lidl and Aldi my German friends swear by them and that's good enough for me

I can't wait for Aldi to open in North West London! 4th April, bout time. Will give Waitrose and Sainsbury a run for there money!.

Just been into Aldi to buy a rib of beef for Easter. I bought one when they had them on offer at Christmas and it was very nice and much cheaper than the other supermarkets.

We have a triple celebration going on over Easter. My brother and sis in law's Golden Wedding, our 45th anniversary and DD2 becoming a deputy headteacher. Aldi has opened just in time for us to fill the boot with suitable celebration tipple without breaking the bank.

I can`t shop at Aldi, although I`d like to give them a go, cos hubby insists on me shopping online, and Aldi don`t deliver.

Aldi's flowers are far better kept than Lidl's. However, I bought a rather sad looking orchid very cheaply from Lidl and it perked up and performed well. I also bought a small hedge-worth of box plants from Lidl to edge my little veg patch. They are flourishing. It just depends what they have in at the time.

the only shop around here that sells black bread (pumpernikle) my partner loves it - i hate it. i buy it for him and he has it all to himself.

I buy Aldi's collection of plants for hanging baskets every spring. They are much cheaper than other shops and last happily through to the autumn. I bought two very cheap lavender plants a couple of years ago and they are still doing very well in pots - and this is the woman who can kill any plant known to man.

Deedaa agree they are excellent value for money.

anno I always buy my flowers from Aldi they have a good selection so I can buy a couple of bunches without breaking the bank.

Just got back from Lidl, bought a well kown make of electronic carpet cleaner for under half price! We had never been into the shop before. We went back in for a look round - came out with large compost bin, under £25. Also kitchen chair pads, washable and very cheap, plus 4 pairs of walking socks. These were the same brand as sports shop that sells them for £11 each pair!
Definitely going back to buy food as they had continental items that you usually only find on holiday, plus cheaper everyday things! Can then spend more on meat etc at Waitrose!!

Why not buy meat from your local butcher? (Instead of Waitrose or any supermarket) When you see the carcases being unloaded or hanging up at the back 1) you know it's not horse and 2) you are helping keep your local businesses and your high street in business.

Lidl s also great. I got a Singer sewing machine for £79 and it's really good. Has a range of embroidery stitches and does automatic buttonholes. Very impressed.

I shop every week in Lidl, there is also an Aldi just 50mts down the road. I buy all my fruit and veg there, plus cleaning products, and the yoghurts are to die for. We save loads. Lots of my friends shun these cut price stores, saying the quality isnt as good. They are so wrong. I say try it first then form an opinion.

Graces mum: in the city no local butcher! When we go to the country always buy from local butcher. They buy the meat before it goes to the local abattoir.It travels no more than 10 to 20 miles. Shame that does not happen everywhere. Xx

I always shop at Aldi now, takes half the time and saves me money. Ok there's not as much choice but I'd rather get the shopping done quickly and get on with life. Their breakfast cereals are brilliant, Museli, Wheat Biscuits, Red Berries all as good as branded and much cheaper.

I love Aldi. Their fruit and veg is really cheap and as good as from anywhere. Some of the other products we buy and love are their bake yourself rolls, their cream crackers are great, smoothies, cheeses, crisps, pasta, pasta sauces. I also buy their washing powder, fabric conditioner and washing up liquid - all great. And cheap as chips !

I haven't used Aldi much but do go to Lidl and I really like various things there. Thir bread is very good and I also like their jams and marmalades. They often have continental cooked meats, cheeses etc which are just as good, if not better, than bigger supermarkets and at a better price. Recently bought veal liver (frozen) which was excellent and not overly priced.

I have both Aldi and Lidl nearby and both are fantastic for value and quality. Shopping takes a fraction of the time because of the way the checkout works - chuck it all back into the trolley so you are not holding up the queue.
Never had a problem with quality of anything. Veg is lovely and ridiculously cheap. And I can find everything I'm looking for because the layout is so straightforward. Brilliant. And the non-food items are always worth a dekko.

I have shopped at Lidl and Aldi for years. Common sense tells you what is good and bad but in general products are as equal to others.

Our Lidl was one of the first in the country and is now one of the smallest by default.

I am as sick as a pig as the wine I like at Aldi is 'off the shelves at the mo'. boo ruddy hoo.

I don't know what the 'tills' are like in America but here the staff are so efficient they put other supermarkets to shame.

Good to hear pogs.I went but it was just. O.k. Here. Of course sigh,we don't have wine yet! In the stores. the packaged food all seemed to be from a co. In Ill. I do have to admit I bought somethings ,all were good but I try to stay away from salty foods.Nought some good rice cakes.The yogurt and cheeses looked good but I didn't need any. Didn't see any of the good stuff you all mentioned.

Aldi is great! I buy fruit, veg and any frozen foods (e.g. berries, veggies) there and safe a fortune. I try not to buy meat there though, but that's personal preference I guess

Went to Aldi last week and had to wait 5 mins for a parking space.
No wonder Tesco shares are suffering!

Aldi's gin recently picked up an award, beating many 'big name' gins inc Bombay. Haven't tried it yet, but it's on my shopping list. Their marmalade is really good and they do bottles of maple syrup loads cheaper than all other places I've seen it. Part baked 'Dinner Rolls' are excellent. It's worth going on the link above, you'll get lots of recommendations that are worth trying. I've a friend who wouldn't dream of shopping in Aldi - don't understand her at all. Her loss. Apart from the savings and good quality foods, they always have lots of special offers each week for mainly non-food items. One week it'll be garden stuff, then DIY, outdoor play etc. You can get an Aldi app that tells you what's coming up.
