Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Hot smoked salmon and lemon rice followed by strawberries and meringues with a dab of clotted cream. Quick and easy after a day riding the Tour de Yorkshire and playing in the men's singles final. (Took some doing but I am a dab hand with the zapper and recording - and pretending) wink

I'm really enjoying this thread! Tonight, friends are coming round for tea, so we're having roast chicken, roast spuds, carrots, cauli, cabbage and swede. HM meringues with strawberries and cream. As appreciative guests, they usually bring a nice bottle of two - here's hoping!

rosequartz Mon 07-Jul-14 17:48:54

We've got leftovers.

vegasmags Mon 07-Jul-14 17:52:56

Tonight it's homemade vichysoise(spelling?) Soup and to follow, salad and a selection of cold meats. Lunch was sardines on toast. No-one to cook for, DH is visiting DD and family, helping them with moving heavy furniture etc. after their house move. Wish I was there. sad

Gagagran Mon 07-Jul-14 19:08:56

DH away in London watching the Tour de France so I had a treat of some grilled sirloin steak and mushrooms and about 10 frites. Delicious. Himself doesn't care for steak so I only have it when he's away. Had a banana for lunch so not too naughty a dinner. wink

316 cals
- fried chicken covered in harissa paste with tomatoes chickpeas and onion and garlic with green beans.

Had to be sensible today as I bought 4 doughnuts yesterday of various sort to take to my son's to see how his house renovation is doing but he couldn't get back in time and then Wimbledon was on so guess what -I ate 2 and my husband finished the others off!!!

I'm having to do more cooking now that DS is home, It's taking quite a chunk out of my day! Not much tonight though. I bought some prepared Cromer crabs at the market, we will have fresh bread and salads with them, and I'll do a garlic mayonnaise.

vegasmags Tue 08-Jul-14 16:42:45

Tonight's repast will be chili con carne and wild rice - trying to use up whatever is lurking at the bottom of the freezer. Had the leftovers from last night's dinner for lunch.

I'm being a tad naughty tonight, Lidl 28 day aged Scottish sirloin, (bargain price) jacket potato and reduced fat coleslaw.

With a glass of wine!

sparkygran Tue 08-Jul-14 16:56:31

phoenix it`s nice to be naughty on a Tuesday was in Lidl`s today and missed that bargain. Tonight it`s leftovers of baked ham, carrots and roasties. Does anyone else think like me that sometimes leftovers taste great???

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/12838/garlic-mayonnaise

But I use as much garlic as I feel like, anything up to four.

janerowena Tue 08-Jul-14 17:04:38

PS if it does split, just add a tsp of flour.

whitewave Tue 08-Jul-14 17:47:57
