Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Galen - if you lived nearer, I'd be inviting myself round grin

ninathenana Thu 10-Jul-14 18:13:49

Can't think about cooking at the moment. To mucho on my mind. So it's Chinese takeaway.

Lona Thu 10-Jul-14 18:39:01

No basil Galen? I love that swimming in olive oil.

Chicken Kiev with petit pois and sweetcorn for me.

tegan Have you said yet - "Oh I didn't know that he would not be coming? Didn't you have time to tell me?"

If not, work it into the next conversation. If you don't tell them that you were ready for him and were disappointed when he did not turn up, how will they know?

Tegan Thu 10-Jul-14 19:51:57

It got a bit complicated.....

On the menu tonight, here at vegasmags towers is griddled chicken, new spuds, asparagus and green beans. More importantly, washed down with a lovely glass of the red stuff - and I don't mean Ribena!

kittylester Fri 11-Jul-14 18:23:15

Steak, maman potatoes and salad. Also with Ribena vegas. It's a Friday night tradition at our house - the steak I mean! grin

Yet more leftovers quietly glad everything is now used up - I blame my grandmother and mother - waste not want not. All washed down with several glasses of wine - it tasted really good - honest

Hot evening, what better than a can of pea and ham soup and ham sandwiches all lovingly prepared by DH. A rare treat indeed[grin}

hildajenniJ Fri 11-Jul-14 19:04:38

Sorry grin

merlotgran Fri 11-Jul-14 19:08:51

Nothing exciting tonight. Oven baked breaded scampi, salad and new potatoes.

Feeling lazy.

annodomini Fri 11-Jul-14 19:10:13

Salmon fillet and green salad. Very abstemious as I've decided it's about time I stopped comfort eating. Will someone please remind me about that tomorrow?

Gagagran Fri 11-Jul-14 19:22:23

Sweet and sour chicken and rice for us tonight. Quick and easy after a busy day. Just had a piece of Aldi almond chocolate to satisfy that annoying sweet tooth of mine. Why can't it yearn for celery or cucumber instead of chocolate?

janerowena Fri 11-Jul-14 19:37:13

Mixed roasted veg with garlic and olives, with prawns in an arrabiatta sauce.

rosequartz Fri 11-Jul-14 20:06:53

Cod baked in foil, jacket potato, roast baby tomatoes, peas and courgettes from the garden. Some parsley sauce (parsley from the garden!). Mr Q had chips instead.

Nonu Sat 12-Jul-14 18:58:42

harrigran Sat 12-Jul-14 19:09:35

Comfort food, cottage pie with carrots followed by rice pudding.

merlotgran Sat 12-Jul-14 19:22:39

Tandoori Chicken, salad and naan bread with cucumber and mint raita.

Mamie Sat 12-Jul-14 19:31:08

Salad of tomatoes, pomegranate seeds, cucumber and red onion, red rice and roasted vegetable salad, and fresh sardines cooked on the barbecue. The sardines cost 2€ from the fish stall in the market.

vegasmags Sat 12-Jul-14 19:32:32

Mince and tatties here - but broad beans doing well in the garden so looking forward to one of my favourites in a few days - raw tiny broad beans, feta cheese and mint salad.

The power of advertising was watching Nick Hewer on a local programme called Farm Fixer which featured a guy flogging his beef - nay Dexter beef - at the end of the programme it was flagged up that there was a `pop up shop` in our city centre and low and behold when I was in town last Thursday there it was staring me in the face - no need to go into my browsing and purchasing - bought 2 Dexter steaks and we had them tonight I thought they were expensive (family though differently) and they were good but in all honesty no better than steaks from local butcher. anyway served with mushrooms, peas and new potatoes. Nice meal

Ana Sat 12-Jul-14 20:24:21

'a guy flogging his beef'...'pop-up shop'...my mind is obviously far too rude for Gransnet - off to watch Casualty! grin

sparkygran Sat 12-Jul-14 20:36:57

Ana you little rascal it`s all above board - enjoy Casualty

sparkygran Sun 13-Jul-14 11:07:57

Hi everyone tonight its steak and kidney pie with new potatoes and fresh garden peas followed by rhubarb tart and custard. Made the pie yesterday so this morning has been very relaxing. Having my uncle joining us my adorable aunt died recently so do my best to have him over frequently

vegasmags Sun 13-Jul-14 11:24:34

Wow sparkygran are you well organised! Sounds like a wonderful meal. I'm going to the cinema for a 6 o'clock screening tonight, so won't eat until I get home 8.45, when I'll tuck to yesterday's leftovers. I plan to have a light meal around 4ish, otherwise I'll be dead with hunger. So boiled eggs and toast soldiers for lunch, followed by a cold meat salad at 4.
