Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Roast chicken with thyme, boulangere potatoes cooked under the chicken, and salad. The salad seemed like a good idea when I planned it! confused

Tonight it will be Salmon with new potatoes and peas. Lemon curd tart and custard or cream for pudding. Can't do anything interesting cos the DGC won't eat it. When I was young it was eat or go hungry and the meal was reheated for the next meal. Deep joy!

Mamie Fri 15-Aug-14 16:47:50

A very simple dish of spaghetti, garlic, fresh chard and mushrooms. We have a huge crop of rainbow chard and OH found chanterelles up the lane.
OH is cooking as I have been clearing up after the departure of the family (do loom bands get everywhere?) and making 14lbs of damson jelly (we picked over 20lbs yesterday)..

Marks and Sparks ready meal tonight - roast pork loin and veg. I'm suffering from a very painful knee at the moment and having mowed the lawn, can't face anything more complicated. I don't often have ready meals and I must confess I am quite looking forward to it - how sad am I?

NanKate Fri 15-Aug-14 18:14:05

It sounds lovely Veg hope your knee is better soon.

Iam64 Fri 15-Aug-14 18:28:41

Vegas, hope your knee is soon ok again. We're also having M&S, salmon en croute, baked potatoes, and M&S veg. Lazy Friday, great. Even though I'm retired, I still love the different feel of the weekend.

sparkygran Sat 16-Aug-14 14:06:42

It`Tesco`s Finest Fish Pie tonight for us (I should say 2 one each) they really are good and I feel like a relaxing Saturday night and have no guilt pangs at all!!

Galen Sat 16-Aug-14 14:27:04

I've some veal medallions. Think I'll cut one in half horizontally, bash the living daylight out of it. Coat it with egg (white only) and breadcrumbs, pan fry in butter/oil, serve with lemon and anchovies!

I'll freeze the other three medallions.

granjura Sat 16-Aug-14 15:23:37

We have our main meal at lunchtime now we are retired- and we had my first attempt at making 'pici'- Tuscan farmhouse eggless pasta, rolled- with 'left-over' sauce- whatever was lurking in the fridge- a couple of onions, a green pepper, left over dried tomatoes in oil, mushroom, a little white wine and cream, with a bit of arissa and pepper- great. I love russling up a dish out of bits- and must practise for next week when grandson will be here, highly allergic to egg.

kittylester Sat 16-Aug-14 15:31:08

Tonight we are having stir fried ginger beef and egg fried rice - really easy! Probably eaten in front of the tv - feel like slobbing!!

Mamie Sat 16-Aug-14 16:14:43

Yum to all of those, Galen, GJ and Kitty.
We are having monkfish, sage and bacon kebabs with aioli and salad.

sparkygran Sat 16-Aug-14 19:15:34

Easy meal tonight after looking after the 2 year old DGC. I made 2 lots of chicken casserole yesterday, so just reheated that with green beans from the garden and a couple of roast potatoes. Yoghurt for pud. Will make a lasagne tomorrow.

Mid week treat -Rib-eye steaks from Aldi. DH marinades them with olive oil and a crumbled Oxo then does them in a griddle pan. Absolutely delish, better than many a steak I've had in restaurants recently. I did some tiny chunks of potato roasted in oven, the leftovers of which my DH will eat on his return from Darts. smile

kittylester Thu 21-Aug-14 20:09:41

Lamb steaks sprinkled with balsamic, with shallots and bacon and a white wine sauce! All served with lyonnaise potatoes and broccoli tossed with lemon and parmesan.

whitewave Fri 22-Aug-14 09:29:40

Tonight it is a Waitrose cannellini - 279 cals - 5;2 diet

sparkygran Fri 22-Aug-14 14:08:30

Homemade Mac & Cheese for moi and ham salad for himself - he doesn`t know what he`s missing

Mamie Fri 22-Aug-14 14:18:04

Lunch was a Persiana recipe that I have been looking at for ages. Roast butternut squash with a spoonful of of pistachio and herb pesto, topped with crumbled feta. Good, but I think I overdid the feta and with the pecorino in the pesto it was a bit too cheesy. Will try again though. Tonight OH is cooking something with lamb, chard, spices and chickpeas.

kittylester Fri 22-Aug-14 14:22:09

Rib eye steak, maman potatoes and a salad - usual Friday night fare and a tradition from when the children were young! To celebrate Friday night they were allowed 'Friday choice' which was usually nuggets and chips in front of the tv and we had something more sophisticated and we carry it in now we have no children at home!
