Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Open ravioli from Waitrose plus a mixed salad. Pannacotta and raspberries plus a large Bacardi and coke to celebrate surviving a whole week looking after two boisterous GSs - phew.

sparkygran Fri 22-Aug-14 18:06:15

Well done NanKate

Homemade tomato soup, sausage sandwich and crisps - DH

Homemade tomato soup and two small slices of bread - Me. Still suffering from indigestion from lunch.

NanKate Fri 22-Aug-14 19:34:44

Thanks Sparkygran the alcohol has anaesthetised my poor aching body and a good night's sleep will complete my recovery and DH too who I am thinking of hiring out as a children's entertainer.

I have made a huge pot of Bolognaise sauce which is bubbling away nicely in the crock-pot .
I will then boil some spaghetti and we will eat it at about 6.30 after the afternoons marathon of sport.

Just the job.

Yummy AND easy.
Laugh.

Sausages.

Farmers market, outdoor reared, onion sausages. Waiting to see what culinary delight DH is going to prepare with them!

Lona Sat 23-Aug-14 16:28:20

Homemade meat pie with broccoli and mixed fresh veg and gravy.
(Only because ds is coming and it's his favourite!)

sparkygran Sat 23-Aug-14 19:05:31

Delicious lentil bake recipe was found in Radio Times recently and is quite dellectable

Ariadne Sat 23-Aug-14 19:12:51

Gnocchi with spinach and mushrooms. Perfect antidote to all these wretched barbecues!

NanKate Sun 24-Aug-14 07:13:45

We have gone posh today with venison steaks, bernaise sauce, Mediterranean veg and new potatoes.

Don't supermarkets have some fab meals on sale now. I wonder what my Mum and Dad would have made of it.

kittylester Sun 24-Aug-14 08:23:53

Belly pork, slow roasted with fennel seeds and thyme, and a sauce made with fried shallots and sherry! All served with mash and honey roasted carrots! Lovely!

papaoscar Sun 24-Aug-14 09:16:43

Ahhh...kittyl the glorious smell of all that roasted pork wafting from the kitchen and the delicious sweet taste of honey and herbs with lashings of buttery mashed potatoes. Its no good, I must return to my lettuce leaf and grated carrot, but thanks for the dream!

henetha Sun 24-Aug-14 10:47:43

Son and partner coming to dinner tonight, so I have made a curry in the slow cooker which should be, - hopefully, - lovely. Smells gorgeous already.
Busy making cakes for our village fete tomorrow.

NanKate Mon 25-Aug-14 17:11:26

Jacket spuds, sausages done in onion marmalade jam, Mediterranean veg, and lots of other veg skulking around in my fridge. M and S trifle. 2 glasses of red wine, not both for me hmm.

hildajenniJ Mon 25-Aug-14 17:52:38

Butternut squash and apple soup, Heston's smoked bacon grilled and served in brioche rolls. Very sweet and yummy. [Smile]

Galen Mon 25-Aug-14 18:05:52

Dd is cooking. It's fish fingers new potatoes and broccoli all round.

sparkygran Tue 26-Aug-14 13:39:29

Rump steaks tonight and Rosiebee I`m trying your DHs marinade in fact they are marinading as I type

vegasmags Tue 26-Aug-14 13:46:00

Having had DD and family for a week, I am cooked out. Funny how they all like the old favourites when they come to visit - including the elephant biscuits that I have been making for 40 years! Tonight I'm having egg and chips with the remains of a bottle of Rioja!

Aka Tue 26-Aug-14 14:51:40

Tonight it's leftover pie, made with odd bits of fish and seafood in plastic bags from the freezer, some left over Auntie Bessie's mash and bits of cheese after I've cut off the mouldy bits grated, served with sprouting broccoli (which shouldn't be sprouting) and some green beans from the allotment. Not forgetting a nice little Pinot Gris that needs finishing off.

Cost £0 shock

Galen Tue 26-Aug-14 15:02:36

Homemade cream of mushroom soup with homemade 50% whole meal bread and French sea salted butter.
(That's because I can't get welsh tub butter any more)

NanKate Tue 26-Aug-14 17:32:43

Home made spag bol. Plus finishing off some trifle and red wine wine. Things have moved on from the 50s food and drink wise I am happy to say.

Still love a proper Sunday roast though.

Margsus Tue 26-Aug-14 17:45:04

Home made shepherds pie, made "runny" for no.2 son who had 3 wisdom teeth extracted on Saturday and is milking it for all it's worth...

kittylester Tue 26-Aug-14 17:53:33

Home made shepherd's pie for us too. Beef simmered for about 3 hours with herbs, red wine, yorkshire relish and redcurrant jelly but with bought mash on the top! Then a good sprinkling of cheese on top! With lots of peas!

sparkygran Tue 26-Aug-14 18:07:57
