Tonight we had Chicken Kiev with Lyonnaise potatoes. I have to admit the CK was not made by me but a local butcher whose ready meals are really, really good but I did make the Lyonnaise potatoes myself and I know I shouldn`t blow my own trumpet but it was a good meal

Quick & easy veg soup to-night followed by plaice & thick cut chips,we are lucky to have a fabulous little fishmongers near to us and he does the gutting for me so I only have to dip into breadcrumbs and all done, will use the other half of the lemon in G&T later on so nothing wasted.grin

Tonight we had delicious mushroom soup bought in local deli and sourdough bread from little artisan bakery I have just found. I loved the bread but DH wasn`t quite so keen

We've had rabbit pie, bought from the local farm shop, with cauliflower cheese. DH had American fries with his. It was delicious. The farm shop were raising money for a cancer care charity so we had a go on the tombola, and bought tickets for the raffle. I won a pretty pink cyclamen plant on the tombola and when we got home had a message to say DH had won a raffle prize. He's going to get it tomorrow.grin

Casserole (adapted from a Diana Henry recipe) of venison sausages (personally imported from Waitrose), lentils, red wine, spoonful of this season home-made damson jelly, rosemary, mushrooms and a pinch of chilli. Served with steamed leeks. Delicious though I say it myself.

NanKate Fri 03-Oct-14 17:45:07

Sounds good Mamie.

Nothing very exciting here tonight. It's fish, chips and peas tonight and a yoghurt with flaked almonds on the top.

As it's Friday I usually makes us a nice strong Bacardi and Coke, memories of our youth. smile

Chicken parmagiana (sp???) with new potatoes and ginger and garlic green beans. Really easy because I had the tomato sauce in the freezer!! Result!

NfkDumpling Fri 03-Oct-14 18:30:44

grannyknot that sounds delicious - could you pass on the recipe? We had sautéed sea bas, potatoes Boulanger (sliced and baked in the oven with onions and thyme) and purple sprouting broccoli. Late strawberries from the allotment for afters.

Grannyknot Sun 05-Oct-14 20:40:07

jam it is and so easy! I bought the mackerel from a local farmer's market, home smoked. It was delicious, melt in the mouth (and that was me tasting prior to putting it in the dish!) I'll put the recipe on the recipe thread now.

Tonight we had home made celery soup with (also home made) cheese scones.

jamsidedown Mon 06-Oct-14 09:08:57

Grannyknot thank you for putting that recipe on. It sounds delicious and looks really easy to do. I will give it a try soon as I love smoked mackerel. smile

I love my DW, but she has definitely lost her marbles shock

"We are having lamb stew for dinner - do you want dumplings with it ?"

Is the Pope Catholic ? - what a stupid question.

BUT, when I said yes, she then turned devils advocate and gave me all he reasons why I shouldn't - will I ever understand women?

Galen Wed 08-Oct-14 11:48:44

I would make lemon chicken but Gary has put the lemon tree that has lemons on it in the greenhouse and I can't get at it!
Come to think of it I haven't any chicken either.
Oh well! Beans on toast are healthy
