Foods that you don't trust yourself with

Do you have any food lying around your house that you simply don't trust yourself with? I'm talking grazing here rather than a proper meal. I have just finished off a lump of Stilton because it was there. I bought a piece to add to a homemade broccoli soup, but there was some left, I've just eaten it because it asked me to. Ditto chocolate, but none of the posh 90% per cent cocoa solids variety. That I can leave. I love the bog standard stuff that the EU would like to call something else other than chocolate. I've even stolen bits of my children's Easter eggs when they were young. Hence I never have it in the house, unless it's bought for me. Another guilty indulgence, and I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, peanut butter, I don't really want it in my home, but my son buys it. When I'm alone with a jar it shouts "eat me", I feel like Alice did when she fell down the rabbit hole, except I don't get any taller, or shrink for that matter!

How about you, any euphoria inducing foods that you just have to finish off?

Deep-frozen Snickers - they last much longer! Ginger marmalade, Battenburg cake, fresh bread and butter.....

Anything, anything at all that's left over, cooked or that I can slide a bit off and kid myself it doesn't show.

.... But never fruit or stuff that's non-fattening and good for me!

I'm like bags I don't eat if I'm not hungry.

Say I feel like chocolate - and this drives my husband crazy - I will open a slab of chocolate, eat one square, wrap it and not touch it again for weeks.

He simply cannot understand that I can do that smile

I'm not skinny BTW, so my food:exercise ratio overall could probably do with some adjustment grin

Doritos - they have an awful power over me once they are open.

Frozen flakes! The problem would be solved if I didn't put them in the freezer!

Did any of you see a programme this week on BBC2 where an couple where making their own delicious sweets? They (the sweets) looked as if they were dripping in calories.

Toffee, chocolate, marshmallows etc.

When they sampled their sweets they ate enormous portions, I felt very virtuous that I never eat that much at a time, but I did envy their apparent ease at over indulging.

They weren't enormous (well she wasn't)like the Two Fat Ladies so somehow they are 'pigging out' and getting away with it.

I must watch episode 2 this coming week.

As you can tell I am verging on jealousy here. tbenvy

We had friends over for dinner on Saturday night, so since then I've been "tidying up" the leftovers.....mozzarella, French bread, apple crumble, creme brûlée, profiteroles.....I'll be glad when I've had enough!

Daren't watch it, NanKate!

It seemed like such hard work for something that would only last a few seconds if I was eating it. And, as for the washing up afterwards shock, given that I wreck the kitchen when I make a sandwich I can't imagine how much mess I'd create making those sweets.
