Are you loyal to one tea brand?

My supermarket delivery substituted my usual Tetley's with Another Brand. I don't think I ever consciously decided that Tetley's was my brand - I've just always bought it. Just made myself a cup of tea and had to throw it away. Are you loyal to one brand of teabag? I don't think I realised I was until now...

I go for PG Tips bags now. Depends so much on the water quality.
Sainsburys Red Bush is a very nice decaff tea I find.
A good Assam is my favourite.

PG tips,Typhoo,or yorkshire tea, also Twinings breakfast if I am out...

Interesting how many people like PG Tips. We drank no other tea for years, but recently it seemed to get very weak and insipid. We have changed our allegiance to Tetleys, but intend to try Yorkshire Hard Water when the current supply runs out. I had loose tea, made in a pot and served in a china cup and saucer at a meeting this week. Don't know the brand, but it tasted wonderful and there is something so nostalgic about sitting with a cup of tea on a saucer. Different experience altogether to 500 ml brewed with a tea bag in a Kath Kidston mug. brew

Tetleys for ordinary tea and I like Twinings Earl Grey

PG tips always for me. I have to take a supply with me whenever I go abroad as I can't stand the ubiquitous Liptons

Yorkshire Tea. (Taylors of Harrogate.)

My OH used to try saving money by trying cheaper brands of tea but I just would not have it.
We eat well and are not extragavant with food, so one thing I am not going to skimp on is making sure we have a decent cup of tea. I don't actually know if is any more expensive than other brands.

ASDA seems to change the price of an individual tea bag by the number in each box every few weeks. Sometimes the 240bag boxes are cheaper per bag and other times it's the smaller boxes. You have to keep your wits about you and check regularly. I am a deadful tea addict.

Indi I have decaf tea and find that Twinings and Whittards are the best. Now and again I "treat" myself to a "real" tea.

Alima Sat 20-Feb-16 06:50:15

No, I dislike all brands/types of tea equally.

ginny Sat 20-Feb-16 08:34:54

Yorkshire tea every time.

Maggiemaybe Sat 20-Feb-16 08:50:18

I'm an all round brand tart, so would be happy with any decent brand on offer. But DH always goes for Twinings or Clipper, Punjana at a pinch. His favourite was Ringtons, but it was too strong a taste for me - it might be one for you to try, jayh?

grandmaz Sat 20-Feb-16 09:03:21

Twinings Lady Grey, or at a pinch Earl Grey. Always. With skimmed milk, not lemon! smile

I just bought Tesco premium tea, and it's really nice. I really like Barrys tea, which is an irish brand.

Tetley Redbush. Love it & it got tea hating husband to start drinking tea at ripe old age of 49.

Shrimp Sat 20-Feb-16 09:28:05

Typhoo for breakfast, Dorset Tea (wonderfully aromatic) for lunch.

Years ago I always used Sainsbury's Red Label. When I became aware of the concept of Fairtrade I switched between various Fairtrade brands for a while, looking for one we liked. Then, quite a few years ago, Sainsbury's made their own brand teas (some or all? - can't remember) - certainly Red Label - Fairtrade, and so we went back to that.

PG tips
Why is decaff better for urinary tract?
I drink tea and the occasional coffee for the 'boost', presumably from the caffeine
Can never see the point of decaff and have read somewhere that watever the process is they do to it isnt particularly good for you either

Jayh
Have you tried Barrie's Gold Blend? You can get them in Tesco.

naitsabes Sat 20-Feb-16 10:55:43

I also love Tetley I am living in Barcelona and I am happy I can buy it without problem.

Anyone heard of Ringtons tea or is it just available in the North? It isn't in the shops but is delivered by very smart little vans which I remember as a child. MIL still has a delivery and I now buy it online, loose tea, tea bags and Earl Grey since the vans don't come to my area. We really like the tea although I have to buy lots at a time to escape the delivery charge.

Waitrose Ceylon loose leaf or bags if I am in a hurry. Used to have PG. Tips but my tastes have changed. Don't like very strong tea.

Lupatria Sat 20-Feb-16 11:34:59

i don't drink tea and my daughter doesn't drink tea - in fact the only friend who drank tea has now moved away to i don't make it any more.

Funnygran Rington's tea is available in supermarkets especially Morrison's.
I drink Rington's because it was blended to suit the hard water of our area and it makes a nice cup of tea. I do sometimes carry it to Brussels, when I stay with DD, as she has very hard water too.

Marelli Sat 20-Feb-16 11:52:48

Funnygran, I mentioned Rington's tea further up the thread, too. I would love to be able to get it here (Fife). Our water's quite soft but it still makes a good cuppa (when I can get my hands on some)!
