I made dinner last night and got to thinking of my usual favourite suppers that I make on a fairly regular basis. Nothing fancy (as for a special occasion) just ordinary dinners.

Mine are:

1. Chilli & rice
2. Hungarian goulash a la Delia
3. a pork, apple, sage & onion dish topped with cheesy mash and served with green cabbage.

What are yours?

Ooh I love the sound of your Mediterranean Hotpot Bijou.
So many nice, uncomplicated meals on here to make. I think it’s great to hear what others make on a regular basis to get some ideas!

I could call my 3rd meal the SOAP dish ... (sage, onion, apple and pork) ??

Not a total vegetarian here but thought I would add my favourite veggie 'go to' meals:

Iranian vegetable stew. Primarily butternut squash with spinach, tomatoes, potatoes, mushroom stock and flavoured with Ras el hanout spice mix. It has a lovely depth of flavour without being too spicy.
Butternut squash and halloumi omelette ( I really like butternut squash!)
Mushroom risotto - or any risotto really (maybe butternut squash!)

fried chicken liver with bacon and boiled potatoes sounds delicious grandtante.

Whatever meat I have in, casserolled so I can just put in the oven with loads of veg and forget about it, in winter I would cook this every day if I could.
Fish pie with three types of fish and prawns in parsley sauce, topped with breadcrumbs and grated cheese
Susage and mash with braised red cabbage

willa45 Thu 24-Jan-19 14:27:46

Meatballs and Spaghetti w crusty bread, olive oil for dipping and a nice glass of Chianti

Cantonese Stir Fry with white rice

Spanish Omelette with roasted bell peppers and crusty bread

Short on time means I need my home made 'emergency' meatballs from the freezer. Store bought spaghetti sauce and a steaming bowl of pasta does the rest.

Cantonese stir fry made with 'whatever' vegetables are on hand and any leftover chicken, frozen shrimp, beef or pork.

Plenty of onions, Manchego cheese (and potatoes of course) for a great Spanish omelette!

Yogabuddy Thu 24-Jan-19 15:07:07

Chicken and veggie stir fry
Salmon in parcels with spring onions and peppers, and soy sauce and sherry( a strange invention but it works!) with jacket potato and any green veg
Spaggie Bol or shepherds pie- same start, then whichever the mood takes me!

Greyduster Thu 24-Jan-19 15:11:30

Fish pie with cod, salmon and smoked haddock.
Chicken and bacon lasagne with salad.
Baked tomato rissotto with meatballs, and steamed green beans.

seadragon Thu 24-Jan-19 15:21:10

Spinach and Ricotta Filo pie, Moussaka, Beef Olives!

Kim19 Thu 24-Jan-19 15:38:37

Just microwaved a Granny Smith then added custard. Add to my list as sheer bliss and took all of 2 mins.

Happysexagenarian Thu 24-Jan-19 15:51:50

Eggs and Sausages with fried over New Potatoes
