It seams that only a few weeks have past since we were treated to news of talks taking place between Ocado and M&S
now the happy coupple have announced there engagement to the world and Ocado has told its lover of 19 years that its over.
The marriage will take place in 2020 when Ocado's divorce is announced.
A costly wedding will follow (£750m) and friends of the soon-to-be ex, are already crying on Twitter I enjoy shopping in both stores but find the quality in M&S is much better, especialy the fruit its worth paying the extra 'pennys'.
I wonder if and how the 'middle classes' will ajust although many are GNs who shop at Aldi Lidl Tesco and Sainsbury so it won't effect them.
It's not thought that Waitrose will invest in its own fleet of vans so it remains to be seen as to how they will overcome that obstacle.
Its all change in Blighty.

shopping tarts grin

Apologies M0nica and Maggiemaybe

I am pretty free and easy, not very loyal - only as far as shopping is concerned!

Rural living means that you rarely go near shops unless you go out specifically to visit them.

I am away at the moment but comeback tomorrow, getting home at midnight, my journey from port to home, all motorway or dual carriage way takes me past no shops. I may go to church on Sunday in the next village, lots of fields and new housing estates, but shops? No.

I then probably will not leave the village until Thursday, my shopping day, when I will combine my shop with a hair cut and beautician's appointment. The following week looks much the same.

Gosh MOnica I bet you’ve learned to be super organised! I’d get home and realise I’d forgotten to buy milk....

Well, there is a small very expensive Co-op in the village (£1.49 for a tin of tomatoes). which is an incentive to efficient shopping.

However, I am the Queen of LISTS.

I do understand your super organised shopping though M0nica. I have lived in totally rural areas (not even villages) with “local” shops (miles away) were hideously expensive. At that point I bought lots of things in bulk, setting up a “buying group” with friends. This meant purchasing 5 kg of rice or lentils or a case of peanut butter for example but it did mean that alongside our own vegetables there was always something to eat.
Simpler times in lots of ways. Hard work but happy.
