Scrambled eggs on toast......... or chocolate.....hmmm!!

Depends when. i.e. Coming home between 2 and 5 in the morning after delivering a calf/lamb or rarely, a foal - the world's most buttery toast with lots of Bovril and a mug of tea. As a treat, any evening, home made rice pudding made with brown sugar, full cream milk and served with double or clotted cream. Lunch after working outdoors all morning in the cold - Shepherds Pie. Sunday morning breakfast - runny, buttery scrambled eggs on buttery toast with smoked salmon and Tabasco Sauce. Home made bread and butter pudding. I could go on ( and on, and on - - - )

It's got to be mashed potatoes which are salty and buttery with a very runny soft boiled egg in the centre covered with grated cheese. Bliss.

Huge fluffy dumplings in thick black onion gravy.

Toasted granary bread, sliced banana on top and drizzled with runny honey...yummy!

Get yourself a perching stool. I have one as cannot stand for long. The stool has really helped and I do most of the cooking in our house (my daughter and two grandsons). Can find them on eBay or social services might provide.

Yes KatyK - Cheese and Onion crisps, bog standard ( no posh designer/crinkle etc)

GinJeannie Mon 08-Apr-19 17:27:26

Oh just the mention of crusty bread and lashings of butter brings back childhood memories. Unfortunately I am now Coeliac so the bread leaves a lot to be desired! Comfort food now is cold roast chicken!

Another vote for a Bacon Buttie - made with a fresh bloomer loaf thickly sliced, wth lots of butter, and a smidgeon of brown sauce. And a hot cup of tea. Lovely.

KatyK Mon 08-Apr-19 17:57:37

If I have had a bad day I love spaghetti milanaise. If I’m celebrating I love it! My favourite restaurant closed last year and I do miss popping in for a fix.... sad

Cake. I look forward to my afternoon tea every day and eat very little beforehand so I can indulge.

Daisyboots Mon 08-Apr-19 20:10:51

I have never understood the allure of macaroni and cheese maybe because it's something we never had as children. My favourite quick foods are fried or lightly scrambled eggs on hot buttered toast or cheese on toast. Tonight DH didnt fancy much so it was egg and chips followed by strawberries and cream. Strawberry season has started here. :D

grannybuy Mon 08-Apr-19 20:36:36

Fried egg on toast ( when I feel that I shouldn't have any more chocolate)!
