Fried egg or bacon roll does it every time.

Crusty white bread with butter and stiff honey, or tomato sandwiches made with ditto bread and butter.
Or if cooking is involved, Heinz tomato soup, mashed potato.

Mine is homemade chips with fried egg, hence my size, haha! x

Are you a cheeseaholic? Lol!

Nanny27 Mon 08-Apr-19 11:45:07

Pancakes with lemon and brown sugar. Not a hint of goodness in it anywhere!

Cooked mashed potato, grated cheese on top, and popped under the grill until it's all bubbly and light brown. Yum! Think I fancy some right now!!

Rice pudding with blackcurrant jam!

Mollygo Mon 08-Apr-19 11:50:54

Porridge-with a swirl of syrup any time of day.
Cauliflower cheese lunch or evening.

Rapunzel100 Mon 08-Apr-19 11:57:24

Bread and butter pudding every time!

Twopence Mon 08-Apr-19 12:06:22

Soft boiled egg and toast or egg and cress sandwiches.

Theoddbird Mon 08-Apr-19 12:11:35

Had to think about this as so many foods I used to eat as a vegetarian I won't eat now I am vegan. So it has to be peanut butter on toast. Oh and the spoonful or two while waiting for the toast to brown. Mind you...the taste of it slightly melted on the hot toast is even better. Oh dear on a roll now... Avocado on toast with sliced cherry tomatoes and chilly flakes...moorish

Egg and chips or fish and chips from chip shop or spag Bol with garlic bread ?

JMarion Mon 08-Apr-19 12:32:30

I cannot stand at the cooker for more than a few minutes at a time so I often think of something I would fancy for lunch and even have it to hand but cant bring myself to stand long enough to cook it. Therefore I finish up with ready made soup and a sandwich. Any suggestions for a really quick but tasty lunch would be very welcome

Mine is tea and toast. When we've been away in holiday I crave tea and toast and husband longs for a hot curry.

gillgran Mon 08-Apr-19 12:36:17

Poached eggs on toast

JMarion Mon 08-Apr-19 12:37:57

I also forgot to mention I am type 2 diabetic and should have plenty of vegetables but it is such a bother trying to prepare them. Bags of frozen vegs are useful.

Basically, anything that is exceedingly fattening!! And I have to say that looking through your lists, most of the 'comfort foods' given fall into this category lol

Craftycat Mon 08-Apr-19 12:45:02

Fish Finger sandwich - with white crusty bread.
Failing that - crackers with loads of different cheeses but mostly gooey ones.

DH would chose my steak & kidney pie with flaky pastry -which is really more kidney & steak.

stevej4491 Mon 08-Apr-19 12:57:52

A bacon buttie, loads of bacon ,no butter.

stevej4491 Mon 08-Apr-19 13:01:21

It was egg and chips that started my weight problems at 16.

pen50 Mon 08-Apr-19 13:37:53

Porridge with cream. Had it on Sunday with some stewed rhubarb. Sensational.

GrandmasueUK Mon 08-Apr-19 13:38:44

Boiled eggs chopped up in a cup with toast soldiers or Heinz tomato soup with bread.

Millie22 Mon 08-Apr-19 13:40:15

A cup of tea and slice of madeira cake.

Sheilasue Mon 08-Apr-19 13:44:40

You have all made me really Hungary and most of the things you have written I love too.
Don’t know if I am getting weirder as I get older but I have just have a cinnamon bagel with raisins and cheese and tomato in the middle

Yet another macaroni cheese - with a crispy cheese top or jacket potato (in the oven rather than microwave) with lashings of butter. Both take me back to comforting childhood..
