What are you all having to eat tonight? I cook every evening and have been getting bored with the usual meals. Tonight, I've made a Chicken Jambalaya - it's a Hello Fresh recipe I had ages ago, but I bought all the ingredients and have adapted it a bit.

I've made a carrot cake for afters.... with cream grin

Easy peasey Callistemon. Individual pastry cases, 5 or 6 rasps per case. Made a little rasp / sugar / jam concoction in a non stick pan. Drizzled it over the rasps. Whipped double cream with a raspberry nipple on top.

When I presented them to my students, the Chinese boy said 'Oh la la Miss Gaga!'.

Much better than the muck the caterers usually provide.

After all the rich food of the last few days we’re having pasta and bolognaise sauce this evening. No pudding!

I’m thinking of a pie - on a plate, not a deep one - with what’s left of the turkey (not a lot) onion, mushrooms and leeks. Wondering whether to use a tin of condensed mushroom soup or make a sauce. I expect I’ll still be dithering for a while yet, but if I make the pastry shortly I’ll have to make up my mind sooner or later.

Thank you Gagajo

I'll try those when the mince pies have all gone!
We have raspberries in the freezer, they do tend to produce a lot of juice when they thaw so I expect we'll have to eat them all on one day.

Lamb ragu (previously frozen ) with spaghetti.

Lunch is leek and potato soup with chunk bread ( previously frozen)

Been defrosting, cleaning and rearranging fridge and freezers all morning??

I think it will be fish and chips tonight. Used the last of the beef yesterday to make cottage pie, which was tasty. There's a bit left for our lunch today.

Egg,bacon and chips with grilled tomatoes and mushrooms. Trifle to follow.

Jaxjacky Wed 30-Dec-20 13:05:08

Cottage pie, cauli and sprouts, we don’t eat puddings.

Riverwalk Wed 30-Dec-20 13:55:08

Not sure yet, about to have a root around the freezer. I have sea bass in the fridge but somehow don't fancy fish on a cold day - unless it was fish & chips!

So many people have puddings every day shock

Some Coq au vin which my son-in-law made last night, DD came down with a portion for me, I am going to have it with mashed pots and peas. Lovely.

EllanVannin Wed 30-Dec-20 14:29:11

Mixed grill throwing everything in.

Oh, I could just eat coq au vin! Unfortunately I don't have the ingredients at hand but I now have it in mind to make in the next few days.

Steak and kidney individual pies from the butcher. They are delicious . Mash and broccoli. It will make a nice change from turkey, ham and smoked salmon. Mmmmmm

GagaJo Wed 30-Dec-20 17:02:52

Ham and cheese omlettes, followed by chocolate dipped bananas (for the kids) and probably some yoghurt for me.

Pantglas2 Wed 30-Dec-20 17:10:51

piri piri chicken, green beans, spinach and rosti followed by sponge pudding drizzled with my lemon curd which is rather sharp in this incarnation...?

Greyduster Wed 30-Dec-20 17:32:07

Meat and potato pie, peas and carrots.

Kate1949 Wed 30-Dec-20 17:34:23

We had chicken casserole plus broccoli and green beans. It was all the nicer because DH cooked it.

grandMattie Wed 30-Dec-20 17:39:45

MORE turkey. Tomorrow we’ll have fish, then a large turkey (again ?) to share with DS2.

Urmstongran Wed 30-Dec-20 17:54:34

A quiche from Sainsburys - salmon & broccoli. With something.... not eating till around 7pm so I’ve got time to mull it over! Tin of beans? Easy. Baked potato? No effort.

Witzend Thu 31-Dec-20 16:04:07

Grilled skewers of chicken thigh chunks, marinated in soy sauce, honey, ginger and red chilli. With baked potatoes and my version of coleslaw.

My turkey/onion/bacon/mushroom/leek pie turned out quite nicely. Dh had 2 big helpings, not that that’s necessarily an indicator, since he’ll eat anything, thank goodness. I can’t do with fussy-eater blokes.

EllanVannin Thu 31-Dec-20 16:13:30

Baked potatoes and grated cheese----gone ! Ham sandwich later.
Turkey slices out of the freezer until tomorrow then another slap-up meal grin----keeps you going.

We're getting a Chinese from a gorgeous restaurant quite close to us

They've been doing takeaways to try to keep going at this time.

Blossoming Thu 31-Dec-20 16:51:00

Mushroom omelette, don’t feel like anything heavy.

B9exchange Thu 31-Dec-20 16:56:51

Marks and Spencers New Year's Eve offer for two, choice of starter or pudding, mains, side and a bottle of wine or chocolates for £15.

Jaxjacky Thu 31-Dec-20 16:58:03

Rib eye steaks, dauphinois potatoes, carrots and sugar snap peas, not until 7’ish. A cracker each, no pudding.
