What are you all having to eat tonight? I cook every evening and have been getting bored with the usual meals. Tonight, I've made a Chicken Jambalaya - it's a Hello Fresh recipe I had ages ago, but I bought all the ingredients and have adapted it a bit.

I've made a carrot cake for afters.... with cream grin

Steak here too, sirloin, with mushrooms, peas and home made chips, followed by a home made apple crumble and cream and a couple of glasses of champagne. We will eat about 7pm and then listen to music and read or watch a film.

jax just read your 7pm comment....not copying you, honest!

Chinese roast duck with ginger and spring onion stir-fry veg and soft noodles.

I found a couple of individual mango and passion fruit roulades in the freezer left over from the Christmas stash so they'll do nicely for a pud.

tanith Thu 31-Dec-20 17:13:52

I’m having sausages cheesy mash and green beans followed by passion fruit roulade with cream.

Fish pie as we're not having Fish Friday
Haven't told DH yet as he'll want steak.

tanith Thu 31-Dec-20 17:15:16

Snap merlotgran mines from a pack I found in the freezer.?

Callistemon Thu 31-Dec-20 17:15:32

I should cobble together a pudding

Mapleleaf Thu 31-Dec-20 17:19:35

Cheese fondue with bread, apple and pear for dipping.

Alexa Thu 31-Dec-20 19:19:49

Cup a soup, pizza, and fizzy Schloer followed by Quality Street .

Witzend Thu 31-Dec-20 19:31:35

We still have Christmas pudding and brandy butter so I don’t need to make one. ?
I’ve already cracked open the fizz and orange juice, so ?and Happy New Year everybody!

Callistemon Thu 31-Dec-20 19:41:46

DH really enjoyed the fish pie!
And I made two smaller ones that went into the freezer for me. smile

No pudding.

+ A crisp NZ Sav Blanc

kittylester Thu 31-Dec-20 20:14:42

We had fillet steaks with stilton sauce and maman potatoes and salad.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 31-Dec-20 20:23:40

We were going to have a piece of roast sirloin, but decided to have it tomorrow, so have had Lamb ragu instead with a glass of Chablis.

Watching Andre Rieu for a couple of hours, then open a bottle of something to welcome 2021.

Jaxjacky Thu 31-Dec-20 20:37:57

lemongrove hope you’re enjoyed yours!

NanKate Thu 31-Dec-20 20:38:34

Roast duck in a plum sauce, parmentier potatoes, mix of veg prepped by DH. Another family here having the M and S roulade with added raspberries and brandy cream. With a nice glass of Merlot. Finished off with a Xmas choc.

Callistemon Thu 31-Dec-20 20:48:05

We tidied up the chocolates.

lemongrove Thu 31-Dec-20 20:50:08

Thanks jax we really did, am feeling a bit overstuffed now though ( knew I shouldn’t have had a third helping of apple crumble?) Was your meal good?

tanith are you rummaging about in merlot’s freezer for those roulades?

Jaxjacky Thu 31-Dec-20 20:56:14

lemongrove Yes thank you, we don’t have puddings, maybe a morsel of cheese later, but probably not..Happy New Year to you.

Witzend Fri 01-Jan-21 09:10:32

How many on here have a pudding most days? Except for e.g. Christmas pud we usually only have them if guests are coming, though I might make one now and then. I’ve made a couple of Eve’s puddings when we’ve had a lot of apples. I’m not so bothered but dh would eat one every day if it was there - probably two helpings! - so he prefers not to be tempted on a daily basis.

I have made a lovely steak pie for today with sausages in it too, yum! We shall have that along with mashed potato, carrots and sprouts. That will be followed by a chocolate and salted caramel cheesecake with ice cream. All washed down with a nice glass of red. - Can't wait! Hope you all have a good New Year - stay safe.

Greyduster Fri 01-Jan-21 10:17:29

It would normally be a family roast today, but as we are a deux, it will be chicken curry with all the trimmings. I hope I haven’t overdone the chillis! DH likes curry to blow his head off, but I don’t! If there is room for a pudding, it will probably be a nice cooling yoghurt.

Jane43 Fri 01-Jan-21 10:24:24

We rarely eat red meat so we are having sirloin steak with vegetables and garlic bread. We have an M&S salted caramel cheesecake in the freezer so will have that for dessert and a glass or two of Merlot for DH and rose for me as red wine disagrees with me.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 01-Jan-21 10:32:23

Sirloin roast, roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts, parsnips, Yorkshire pudding, horseradish.

Can’t make up my mind whether to have a pudding or not. Probably not. But if I change my mind it will be apple and mincemeat pudding and custard.

An Indian takeaway if anywhere is open.
