What are you all having to eat tonight? I cook every evening and have been getting bored with the usual meals. Tonight, I've made a Chicken Jambalaya - it's a Hello Fresh recipe I had ages ago, but I bought all the ingredients and have adapted it a bit.

I've made a carrot cake for afters.... with cream grin

Ribeye steak and salad.

An Asda Wagyu beef burger in a malted brown bap with cheese and onions. I will have the same tomorrow as the burgers come in a pack of two. Very succulent, and huge!

I've been inspired by some of the meals you've all been having.

This evening, I made Chicken Rogan Josh, from scratch, with rice. Magnum ice cream for afters smile

DH, who does most of the cooking, is doing his signature lasagne

Pan fried salmon steaks, new potatoes, carrots and frozen peas followed by raspberries in jelly with a little cream. Coffee just ready now.

Roasted vegetables. Chicken breast in breadcrumbs . I’ve recently discovered the joys of brining chicken. Makes it so tender.

We had peppers, courgettes, red onion, tomatoes, feta cheese roasted in garlic oil and coated with Greek spices bought in Kalamata and a lamb chop. Lovely and not too heavy. My oldest. granddaughter loves so much she has taught her daddy cook it.

Making a sausagemeat plait, with potato gratin, broccoli, sweetcorn and peas. As it’s Friday our after meal treat is a bar of Cadbury’s chocolate (other brands are available!) - a Big bar. ? And wine. There’s a Pinot chilling in the fridge ?

For lunch I had this lovely dish which I'd batch-cooked at the weekend - mine was saucier than the picture and very nice and filling.

Chicken & butter beans

But that was a few hours ago and my intention to have smoked salmon and salad tonight has gone out the window, as it's gloomy and windy outside!

So I'm undecided and looking for inspiration.

Here’s the sausagemeat plait (well looks bit more like a loaf) hot out of the oven .

Riverwalk I’ll try your recipe for chicken and butter beans, it looks yum!!

Sar53 Fri 12-Jun-20 17:40:02

I have a cheese and onion pie cooking as we speak, homemade. We have this with baked beans. A favourite in this house and a simple easy meal.

It's eaten grin Plaice, new pots and salad. Apple pie and ice cream.

D went to M&S you see and returned with two big bags of goodies and a bunch of stocks of which I can smell all over the place, they're beautiful and spicy. She won't let me go with her and said there was a queue.

Puzzler61 Fri 12-Jun-20 18:35:56

Riverwalk I’ll send half in a Jiffy bag and whiz it to your house.
Ellen it’s lovely that your D is spoiling you a little today. M&S fragrant Stocks are always glorious ?

Chicken and mushroom risotto, cooked by DH, his signature dish!

morethan2 Fri 12-Jun-20 21:58:51

grannysyb I love risotto but I’m the only one who does. It’s such a faf to make just for one. Can I come to your house

We had a posh dinner tonight for my birthday. I cooked, DH did the veg prep.

Peppered sirloin steak, our first new potatoes (Yum) carrot and parsnip puree and minted sugar snap peas. I also did a nest of tempura battered onions to plonk on top.

Washed down with prosecco.

Absolutely stuffed afterwards so we've only just had pudding which was thinly sliced home grown strawberries - that's because only two have ripened so far, on top of some vanilla ice cream.

Last week the batteries ran out in the bathroom scales. I ordered a new pack which arrived this morning. Have I replaced them???

Nope! grin

Meat pie, veg and new potatoes, all as a takeaway from the village pub. We have had a takeaway from them ever since the lockdown started and also picked up meals for an elderly neighbor and his wife. It's a little treat each week and a support for a local business, (makes up for DH's Guinness money they would usually get on a Friday.

Very nice home made broccoli and stilton soup at lunchtime with crusty bread

Fish and chips from the chippie - me
spicy lentils - husband

Probably not one of my healthier days but nice nevertheless.

Puzzler61 Sat 13-Jun-20 16:38:03

Merlotgran you can’t be worrying about your delicious tea yesterday (made my mouth water). I believe 2 things to be true:
A diet always starts tomorrow,
and
tomorrow never comes! ?

Puzzler61 Sat 13-Jun-20 16:39:46

This evening I’ll be having tuna pasta bake and olive ciabatta bread with a bit of salad on the side.
DH is opening a bottle of Prosecco as I type. ?

grandMattie Sat 13-Jun-20 16:46:09

merlotgran Sat 13-Jun-20 16:50:41
