DH asked did I want anything before he left for Golf. I immediately thought “bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, scrambled egg, and fried potato slices”.
I won’t have that for breakfast, but I do really fancy it sometimes.
I can almost smell it cooking! ? ?

What’s your usual breakfast?
What would you love to have?

EllanVannin Tue 28-Jul-20 09:31:04

If I got a whiff of it I'd polish it off grin A breakfast like that sets you up for the day. A spoon or two of baked beans too !

A full breakfast is what I have as a main meal of the day now, during the day between 3 and 4pm, that's when I'm hungry.
Thickly buttered crumpets suffice for breakfast now and if I have melon left, that as well with ginger. Drinking choc.

Full Welsh breakfast, complete with laverbread, toast and several pots of fresh coffee for me. But only as my holiday treat. Ordinarily it's a slice of toasted seedy bread. Boring!

I only eat a bit of breakfast because DHs nags if I dont (the importance of Breakfast is another Bee in his Bonnet). I dont really like any breakfast items so I have yogurt and fruit or toast and force myself to have boiled egg at weekends. Cooked breakfasts in hotels are wasted on me.

A bowl of kiwi fruit, blueberries and grapes with a dash of granola plus small amount of semi-skimmed milk.

However on occasions I would have a full English, which would have to include black pudding! smile

Can’t beat full English on Sunday morning. Fried bread, fried egg, bacon sausage mushroom, fried tomato beans. Toast and pot of tea. Mmmm

mumofmadboys Tue 28-Jul-20 09:52:52

My favourite would be bacon, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.

I see nothing wrong with having a 'full English' breakfast, so long as you eat nothing else for the rest of the day.
What I crave is those old-fashioned stodgy puddings and hot custard.

well I grew up on having a full English breakfast, and I am well aged!

now when I have had one at a restaurant, it is only half a breakfast,, our plates would be full when we were young,,
now .. well I haven`t had a proper full English at a restaurant yet!

now, porridge, fruit in the porridge and yoghurt. love it

MiniMoon Tue 28-Jul-20 09:59:37

I only have a "full English" when I'm staying in a hotel or B & B.
At home, its either a slice of toast and a cup of tea, or nothing to eat, just the cuppa.

SueEH Tue 28-Jul-20 09:59:55

I don’t normally have breakfast but my very favourite of recent times was in a swish restaurant in Abu Dhabi... smashed avocado on feast sweet potato topped with poached eggs and chilli flakes. One day I will get round to recreating it smile)

I’m on my way Puzzler ✈️! EllanVannin, would you like some churros to go with your hot chocolate? So popular here in Spain!

I’m planning kedgeree for the weekend brunch- can’t beat a bit of spice to wake you up!

vickya Tue 28-Jul-20 10:02:40

Usual is weightwatchers porridge. That is oats made with water. With cinnamon and sweetner on top.

Favourite would be churros and thick chocolate sauce with them or the American bacon someone upthread mentioned. It is sweeter than UK bacon, and with pancakes and syrup and maybe an egg turned over. I also love hotel buffet breakfasts and can eat through, starting with fruit, then cooked(no beans or veg) and finish with croissants and cakes, and nice toast and marmalade with the cooked course.

I'm greedy too and like to take my time over the hotel breakfast. Also as I drink black tea I ask for two pots, one with hot water to make the tea weaker, and it does a few cups that way.

I couldn't get through a full English these days if you held a gun to my head so we deconstruct it.

Grilled bacon, mushrooms and tomato on one day and scrambled eggs on toast on another. Baked beans and poached egg on toast is a favourite Saturday brunch.

I have to be careful with eggs so only once a week!

I like to make buckwheat pancakes and have them with blueberries, Greek yoghurt and a drizzle of agave nectar.

Quick breakfast is gf cereal and sliced banana.

clareken Tue 28-Jul-20 10:16:57

kittylester Morrisons do a gf black pudding, if you have one near you.

SueEH Tue 28-Jul-20 10:18:20

That will be a ROAST sweet potato!

missdeke Tue 28-Jul-20 10:18:23

Spangler Baked beans on a fried breakfast are an abomination grin Not that I have had one in years. My usual breakfast is home made granola with fruit and a glass of orange juice. In winter, porridge with honey.

My dream breakfast is a Turkish breakfast, boiled egg, honey, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, cold meats and delicious fresh bread, mmmmm......

Purplepoppies Tue 28-Jul-20 10:18:53

Im not great at eating first thing. I do sometimes have a fry up at lunch time though. Sausage, bacon, fried egg, beans, mushrooms occasionally, I love fried bread but it doesn't love me ?.
Im not keen on black pudding or haggis (I live in Scotland) and I will eat square sausage depending on the make.

Whatever you fancy does you good sometimes ?

BTW the Aga is a dream, I’m not “wealth signalling” ?

Agree with the Aga creating great breakfasts! ( not rich or in a big house but its been here for 18 years and is our only way of cooking, drying, ironing etc etc ?). Love a full cooked breakfast- no additional fat is needed when Aga cooking so healthy. I don't do black pudding but do do baked beans! Hubby does a lovely fresh spinach, crispy bacon, avocado, fresh tomatoes, poached egg and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar - as a treat. We often have boiled eggs for breakfast - we have chickens. During lockdown I persuaded myself to like banana and blueberry pancakes - maple syrup and homemade yoghurt.

I just read through all of this thread before reminding myself that I'm fasting today! ? I won't be eating anything, other than one apple around lunchtime, until a frugal dinner about 7.30pm and a small bowl of porridge at about 10pm or so. All calories counted! Tomorrow will be a different story. I'll have a very large bowl of porridge (jumbo oats and a sprinkle of oat bran) made with oat milk (I eat oats and apples every day to keep cholesterol in check) and I'll have a banana sliced on top, raspberries and blueberries too. My day starts with a big cafetiere of coffee. It's what I get out of bed for!

Bella51 Tue 28-Jul-20 10:24:26

Good Lorne sausage, hard to beat!

lizzypopbottle Tue 28-Jul-20 10:24:26

Teetime the old rule about breakfast being the most important meal of the day has been thoroughly debunked!

GrammarGrandma Tue 28-Jul-20 10:25:43

Everyday breakfast is nectarine + blueberries, nuts and seeds, three spoonfuls of Greek yoghurt, GF granola and some milk. On Saturdays we have half a red grapefruit and GF porridge with blueberries and honey. If I have brunch out, it's two slices of GF toast with smashed avocado and two poached eggs.

trisher Tue 28-Jul-20 10:32:25

Porridge or muesli with blueberries. But staying in a hotel always means a full English for me. I did have bacon eggs and mushrooms for lunch the other day because it's so long since I had one. Oh and the essential fried bread!

Aepgirl Tue 28-Jul-20 10:34:50

My usual breakfast is yogurt with fresh fruit, but just occasionally I make myself an egg and bacon sandwich with brown sauce.

I can only have this on my own because of the mess the egg makes running down my chin! Not a pretty sight, but oh so yummy.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 28-Jul-20 10:36:45

Usually have a cereal I make up, that has porage oats and dried fruit with a few spices - yum. Doesn't mean I would not partake in a full English if it were put in front of me!
