All this talk of food supplies - what's everyone having for lunch?

I've got a couple of crab cakes defrosting, to have with salad.

My first picked home grown tomatoes in two slices of Hovis seeded bread followed by a bowl of black grapes.
Quite delicious.

Homemade chicken and vegetable soup, with pearl barely. A pear for 'afters'

Two toasted pikelets, slathered with butter and topped with a huge dollop of tuna, mayo & cornichon mix - and a dash of Tabasco.

I'm a newcomer to pikelets - think I first heard about them on GN a few months ago!

I've now just eaten some isle of wight tomatoes with mrs middleton's classic vinaigrette blush the vinaigrette is LOVELY but we seem to be able to get it cheaper here as it is quite local

Two pieces of peppered mackerel straight from the packet I don’t eat breakfast so I was hungry. Slice of toast with jam and a cup of tea.

Smoked salmon pate on wholemeal toast. Tomato + cucumber slices.

Very nearly snap, TillyTrotter, that's what we had, apart from the fact that ours was smoked salmon slices, not pate. smile

Today it’ll be a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese. We wouldn’t normally have smoked salmon going begging but have had a guest staying so it was Nice Breakfast food.

Cubed apple with cubes of red Leicester. I had a high carb breakfast, so this compensates.

I'm very ashamed to say, a tray of chips shock everyone else around us was munching away on them too, and well I haven't eaten just chips for a very, very long time, that's my excuse! We were facing a beautiful expanse of sand at lovely Llansteffan beach, which somehow enhanced their flavour. They were just right for the occasion smile

Today we travelled back home from a U.K. holiday so stopped at a small market town en route. We tried five places before we found something suitable to eat. The posh hotel was only doing main meals, the next was doing main meals and coffee and cake, another only did pizzas, another was fully booked, and our favourite wasn’t doing food at all. Finally I found a new Good Earth place, who had room and made us a ham roll with salad garnish, and a complimentary sweet pastry confection to taste. We drank sparkling apple / elderflower juice.£8 in total, which was the cheapest lunch of the week.
