Does anyonene else enjoy a nibble once in bed for the night? I love a bit of chocolate. Green and Black's Almond tonight...is it just me. Teeth cleaning before settling to sleep of course

Hate it, even if I am ill. But I cannot get out of bed without a cup or three of tea. Delivered to my by DH on a tray with teapot, strainer and milk jug. At least the day starts well.

I never eat in bed but I was at a friend's house once when the dog came down from upstairs with a half eaten cheeseburger in his mouth. Busted!!?

Missiseff Sat 17-Jul-21 14:33:42

No, never

Kali2 Sat 17-Jul-21 14:36:07

Never- my bed is for very specific purposes, one of them is sleeping. NO food, NO tv- and don't even read in bed.

@Lucca

We used to say about somebody fanciable “I wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating crisps”

The original saying is:

"I wouldn't kick him out of bed for FARTING"

but I guess eating crisps is a good replacement ?

Who says it’s the original ..!?

Definitely a NO from me.

I have a job getting comfortable with a book, let alone a tray of food.

Also, once ensconced in bed, it seems like too much trouble to get up and brush teeth.
I have stopped having my hot chocolate in bed for that reason.
I now drink it before bed and then brush teeth afterwards.

I must say that I’ve only ever heard the crisp version, never the flatulence one
But this has got a certain ring;
‘I wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating lasagne’

Nope. Never eat in bed! I have water at my bedside - but that's all!

Savvy

Whats the 16:8 diet?

Savvy, it is what is known as Intermittent Fasting. Some do a 12 hour fast, and eat up to 3 meals in the other 12 hours. Others do a 16 hour fast, and eat 2 meals during the remaining 8 hours, or one can do a 24 hour fast (also known as OMAD = One Meal A Day). This helps with keeping the blood sugar in check, and is useful for controlling weight. By alternating the fasting periods, the body is kept guessing whether we are in feasting or fasting mode, so does not store the food for "hard times".

I’m disgusting I know, because I occasionally eat buttered toast and marmalade in bed and sometimes even cheese and onion crisps or custard creams.Luckily I sleep with Paddington bear so he’s happy about it.

When I was in hospital waiting to have my ankle fused I wasnt allowed to eat anything before my op. It was a ward for day surgery only so when they brought the patients back the nurses were saying would you like some tea and toast it smelt so delicious I was so hungry. When I came back after op I had 4 slices and tea. I have never had toast in bed that was as good as that nectar of the gods.

Fanny I would never eat a pot noodle either in bed or out of it!

BigBertha1 Sat 17-Jul-21 17:14:17

FannyCornforth I share your pain and have horrible nights but the noise would wake DH and I'd rather he slept on rather than waking up and nagging me to go to the physio/doctors whatever. Enjoy your hot drinks. flowers

Breakfast in bed is my idea of heaven. Nothing fancy, just coffee and jammy toast. Lovely !!

I agree, I can’t get comfortable doing anything but sleeping, many years ago I shared a bed with a man who used to smoke in bed, seems incredible now.

I have never liked eating in bed, even when I had someone to make it for me. I never feel at ease. I remember my children attempting a Mother’s Day treat for me, many years ago. They had picked up the information that eggs should be boiled for 3-4 minutes, but timed them from when they went into the pan of cold water! Semi-raw egg is not my idea of a treat!
As for making a drink and taking it back to bed in the morning. I just don’s see the point. Once I’m awake I am up. Good luck to those of you who like it, though. We all have different ideas of what is enjoyable.

Aah! Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

Thank you
We have our own bedrooms.
He has his own health issues too, I don’t know how we would be able to sleep in the same bed.
Every night I make him a cup of tea around 3pm
We have to take certain medications with food.
You are either in the chronic pain club or you aren’t

I have to admit that food wasn’t the first thing that came to mind when I read this blush

krazykat Sat 17-Jul-21 18:31:05

I didnt when I lived in my house as it was too much faff to take it upstairs.
But now I live in a flat so all on one level, on my days off I love to take a cuppa and a couple of biscuits back to bed first thing

Saw a Swan Teasmade in Aldi a couple of days ago. Around £45 if I remember correctly.

Any tips to not feel hungry when fasting for 16 hours? Is it something you need to work up to? I try to do a 12 hour fast, but havent made it any further, though I'm sure its very beneficial.

MissAdventure Sat 17-Jul-21 21:41:07

I have a tip if you get hungry when fasting.
It works for me without fail.
Eat! grin
