Bring a plate to Jubilee Street party

I imagine there will be the usual “beige food” in abundance ! Sausage rolls quiche pork pies samosas …….I wouldn’t know what to take though

DH has suggested multipacks of crisps, no spoilage or waste food. I'd have to take a binbag too for the packets!
I'd love to take a nice salad but keeping it fresh and serving it would be impossible.

We're doing 'bring a plate too'. I'm in charge so people are telling me what they're bringing. So far we've got offers of finger food really. Seems fine. Easy to pass around and eat. No cutlery either. Canapes, sausage rolls, smoked salmon bites etc as well as crisps and nuts. Lots of Union Jack bunting, plates, napkins, cups and table cloths. Just hoping for good weather.

Very good point! Covid is not dead yet. I know I sound a spoilsport but my family was tragically hit by this this so am a bit "over-sensitive".

giulia a sarny is just slang for a sandwich.
A doorstep sarny is made with very thick bread, typically white bread.

Whole fresh strawberries, children love them, everybody always craves a bit of healthy food at a buffet, and they won’t spoil in the sun.

I always took a couple of quiches from the co/op when we did pot lucks at work. And/or wine (before the new head ? banned it)

Is everyone writing down what they are bringing?
Otherwise, you may get a lot of the same things

At the last Jubilee street do, I just took a lot of sausages on sticks - best quality sausages cut into thirds. I know they’re a well worn cliche but they do invariably go.

Also took Pimms! Big jugs of it, frequently topped up by a dd. Quite a few of our neighbours are of non-Brit origin and some are Muslim, and although I kept telling everybody there was alcohol in it, they evidently weren’t bothered. (There was plenty of non alcoholic stuff if they’d wanted it.)

My Aunt was a caterer many years ago and she always did a huge pile of chocolate dipped strawberries with the stalks on. You could could mix it up with milk, plain, white and that caramac flavoured chocolate . Easy peasy but my Aunt always said it looks good and who could resist.

I would hijack your sausages on sticks en route!?

Tray bakes in whatever variation takes your fancy, cut into squares or oblongs.

My neighbour made a fabulous Pavlova last street party. It lasted about 5 minutes, and we still talk about it!

Cakes. Fairy cakes, chocolate cornflake crispy thingies, scones, muffins, any/all of those.
