Sunday: 30 / 06 / 2024 ..

Today, we had brunch out on a terrace .. We headed over to Plaza de Alcalá ( Plaza de Independencia ) which is right across from Retiro Park and just so lovely early in the morning.

I had Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon as usual and my husband had Eggs Benedict with Iberian Ham.

I enjoyed my Bellini and my Dear had a Bloody Mary.

Iced Coffees of course.

Then we walked in the direction of home, with a few stops in between ..

Monday: 1st of July 2024 ..

Today was just an entrecôte with sautéed red bell strips and a side of fresh Roman wide green beans ..

A glass of Navarran Rosé ..

Simple and quick as we have alot of work to do ..

Tuesday .. The 2nd of July 2024 ..

Today was a Caesar Salad without chicken .. as a starter.

The main was Salmon Teriyaki ..

Superbly splendid absoluty ..

Served with a lovely Rose Prosecco.

Wednesday - 3rd July 2024 ..

Today we went out for Pizza .. As always, my fave is the Margherita with mozzarella di buffala and fresh tomato and basil leaves.

My husband loves the 4 cheese with prosecuitto.

We had tinto verano - a wine with club soda .. Refreshing ..

Friday .. The 4th of July 2024 ..

High marks for Da Giuseppina Italian Trattoria in Quevedo, neighbourhood of Central Madrid.

This is our go to Italian Ristorante for 20 years.

The ambiance transports one to Italia and the specialties here are predominately from Sardinia and regional from the mainland of Italy.

My husband had the Lasagne Bolognese which was refined and gorgeous.

I had the Zuppa di Pesca, a fish and shellfish stew that was out of this world.

We shared a bottle of highly refreshing Prosecco White and for dessert we shared:

A home made on the premises cherry tartlet ..

Strawberry Gelato for 2 ..

Café Espresso ..

Friday the 5th of July 2024 ..

Today we had a lovely lunch at home ..

The main course was oven baked Fresh wild perch served with a side of mashed potatoes ..

The white wine was Riscal from El Ciego, Álava in the Basque country - 13 km. from the city of Logroño, La Rioja.

Since we wanted to share a cheese and fruit platter we skipped a starter ..

Fresh Lidl half baguettes were so delicious, with ham, cheese, tomato and lettuce.
Actually they’re delicious just with butter, but that’s not a meal.

July 6th, 2024 - Saturday ..

Today has been quite a bit warmer than the rest of week, I prepared 2 very simple French Salads - "Niçois" with Albacore white ventresca ( tuna ) tuna, hard boiled egg, fresh spinach leaves, olives, Vinaigrette homemade, a couple of anchovies and fresh green beans steamed and then put in ice water until cool ..

We had a lovely iced tea with Earl Grey.

Have the air conditioning on and relaxing.

Savoury Bread Pudding, green salad, five bean salad. Summer pudding.

Cheese and biscuits. Yogurt.

Ooh, Summer Pudding, lovely. I haven't made one yet this year.

Crispy chicken wings with mayo and chilli sauce dips. And a chilled rosé.

Fish finger sandwich, Waitrose frozen chunky cod on toasted white bread, lettuce and a good dollop of mayo and lots of salt 😋
Followed by an Envy apple 🍏

Was going to have some carrot and tahini soup (homemade) but my guts said no so I had a Emmentale and jam sandwich instead.

Yes, Salade Niçoise ..

I love Salade Niçoise - however, being vegan, no tuna, no eggs, no anchovies. Really? "Salad All Fresh Summer Veg with cold cubed red potatoes mixed in" That's what's for lunch tomorrow.
