What is for brunch or lunch ?

Friday .. The 26th of July 2024 ..

Our lunch today shall be:

A big bowl of the Brittany Coast ! Mussels served with Fries and Dijon Mayonnaise.

Dessert: Our usual which is fresh seasonal fruits ..

Some crusty baguette of course for dipping ..

Something in Waitrose café

Egg mayonnaise and smoked salmon sandwiches.

Tonight - Nigella's chilli, mint lamb cutlets on salad with steamed new potatoes quickly fried in the chilli, minty lamb fat.

Tomato soup and toast. The tomatoes are so delicious currently. Tomatoes, fenugreek, onion, garlic, coconut milk - a favourite.

That sounds good.

Emmental and mushroom toastie.

Sunday .. The 27th of July 2024 ..

Headed over to Restaurant Bar Bibo for a light brunch ..

I had a Salad Niçoise which we shared as it is quite large and a dozen fresh oysters ..

Off to air conditioning at home ..

Hoping it's still Saturday -

Usual Saturday lunch is some sort of bacon/egg/fry up type thingy.

Today, scrambled egg, crispy bacon and maple syrup. Lovely.

Tonight - battered sausage and chips for me, fish and chips for Dh.

A healthy day!!

Due to the extreme temperatures in Madrid, we decided to have lunch in our air conditioned diningroom ..

Lunch today is a fresh fennel, walnut, cherry tomato, tri color lettuces and hard boile deviled eggs ..

The main, battered calamari with ali oli dip and Romesco dip ..

Sparkling Perrier with lemon ..

We are on Grandparent duty for two GC (7 & 4) until tomorrow, will be joined by DD and her youngest soon.

BBQ lunch of burgers (homemade) marinaded chicken wings (Turkish style) peri peri chicken breasts, sausages (of course a BBQ isn’t complete without them)

Green salad, potato salad, coleslaw, tomato and cucumber salad along with garlic flat breads, artichokes in olive oil and other anti-pasta delights.

Washed down with a very light and refreshing rosé. (For the adults only 🤣)

We shall be having a chicken thigh tray bake for dinner, red onion, courgette, potatoes, olive oil, and garlic, I might make a cauli cheese to go with it.

Salad for lunch then boeuf bourgninon tonight with green beans (if we feel like it).
It's getting warmer but there's still a nice breeze.

We had many round, knew we would after Church. Savoury scones with mushroom sauce, salad tomatoes, scones with berries, jam.

Homemade gf (!!!!) cheese topped rolls, with ham, for lunch.

This evening roasted chicken thighs with a mushroom, shallot and cream sauce with lots of tarragon, green beans and minted new potatoes.

Monday .. The 29th of July ..

Simply stove top as it is as hot as The Sahara here ..

A simple version of a spinach salad with cherry tomatoes, fennel and cucumber peeled sliced and a simple vinaigrette.

Then for the main, we had fresh pasta (ravioli) filled with ricotta and arugula ..

Sauce was a simple Pesto.

Tuesday. 30th July 2024 ..

Today, another scorcher and extreme heat wave, we decided upon fruit salad with Kefir for the final and for the starter a simple lite version of a Caprese Salad.

We are hoping for a rainstorm or snow !!!!!!!! Ha Ha ..

It is brutal ..

Baked quinoa, black bean stuffed peppers, salad, bread, and chilled summer pud. All in all quite good, everyone was pleased.

Not as hot as you, but 30 here Frenchgalinspain, so we will be having a bbq later.

Sticky here so why have I decided to do honey mustard chicken thighs and oven chips?

I'll stick them in the oven and sit in the garden with a chilled rosé.

Chicken Waldorf Salad - we had it last night too and there was enough left over for me today.

(The Waldorfs are particularly good this year - I have a positive glut in the garden )

Cheese salad with the addition of leftover French beans tossed in vinaigrette dressing.

Tonight? Salmon, perhaps.

Possibly bbq again for two, grandson will be going home before then, he enjoyed it last night.

Today we went for Japanese .. Close to home ..

I love Nigriri and my husband enjoys Sushi Maki ..

Orricchette ( little ears ) with Broccoli Rabe ..

A classic from Apulia ( Puglia ) and is quite a whimsical pasta shape however, very straight forward and basic.

Dessert: Cheeses with fresh assorted seasonal fruits ..
