I've suddenly taken to enjoying coffee, (been a tea drinker most of my life).
So I've bought a coffee grinder and was wondering what recommendations for buying coffee beans.
I've tried Taylors and Asdas but wasn't that impressed . Thanks

Go on line to Roast and Post, we alway use them as DH is very fussy about his coffee. They roast your beans to order and dispatch them immediately, usually next day delivery. They do a taster pack, so you can make a choice to your preference.
We always have the beans, but they will grind them for you.

Whittards do a selection box of coffees from around the world, I think there are about 9 different ones in the box. they are a good starting point to decide what type and taste of beans you like. I think you need to try quite a few before you can really hone down to your favourite.

I agree. You need to find the flavours you prefer. Most packs in supermarkets have tasting notes which are helpful. I like chocolate/nutty/treacly flavours so I seek them out.

I like Costa's beans. Not too strong.

There are some great websites online and local independent shops.

We love our coffee ground from beans at home, we often buy small packs of different beans and mix our own.

Serve piping hot with single cream (& a dash of something stronger on special days!)

We loved trying the flavoured beans too, our favourites are flavoured with alcohol haha

I like Grumpy Mule, various kinds and ethically sourced which I prefer. One of my granddaughters is working in a roastery in Sussex, all very ethically sourced too. They do mail order, I’ve enjoyed their sample packs. Hopefully I’ve attached a link

Also look at Rise Coffee on line.
They have a different selection each month so you get a chance to savour different blends. Never had one I don't like and I buy decaf from them.

We once tried the coffee that passes through the intestines of a civet cat. I think it was about £20 for 4 ounces. It really was the most beautiful coffee, but hardly something you'd drink every day.

Gosh Deedaa!

Lavazza make decent "everyday" coffee (try the red one maybe first as I think that's the "standard") but I do think it depends on how you intend to process it.

We use a coffee machine mainly and occasionally a Bialetti.
I don't think Lavazza is so good in a French press/cafetière.
My mother-in-law likes Lazy Sunday for "everyday" which she makes in a percolator.

If you want something very special there are lots to try. It's down to personal preference. I don't like a lot of modern (fashionable) lighter roasts which I find a bit "green" for me.

We only buy Lavazza Qualita Oro (gold 250g packet). I buy them when they are on offer.

I love freshly ground coffee (drinking some now) but I can’t say that I can distinguish between the different beans used. I usually buy a 1kg bag from TK Maxx - whatever they have in stock at the time, currently £10.99 - £12.99. I’ve also just bought a 1kg bag from Aldi - one of their Specials, for £7.99.

M&S Italian roast beans are great - good value too!

Lavazza is our favourite daily coffee which we buy in bulk from Amazon. Every so often we buy other brands but always look forward to going back to our favourite.

My preference for everyday coffee is Illy or Lavazzo. Both quite expensive but they taste like "proper" coffee!

Java Arabica coffee beans.

You have already received many ideas.
I will add I buy mine from the same place as my son as I loved his Yargachaffe flavour which is so tasty. I also buy a Brazilian descaffie flavour all online from Coffee Bean in Ashford.

I use a bean to cup machine. Like you I was mostly a tea drinker. As others said try a variety. The difference between them is incredible. Get as fresh beans as you can, and keep them airtight. If you buy too many to use, freeze the beans. Not letting them get stale is key. I’m reading with interest all the recommendations on here.
