Sandwich filling suggestion?

I thought I'd try to ring the changes for yesterday's lunchtime sandwich. Bearing in mind the various health messages I seem to be bombarded with I came up with this:
Two thin slices of heavily seeded brown bread spread with soft goats cheese topped with thin slices of crunchy pears and sparingly sprinkled with walnuts. Press down the top slice, cut diagonally. It was absolutely delicious.
Any other ideas for tasty, fairly healthy sandwich fillings?

I rarely have a sandwich. I have an oat topped deli roll and it’s always vintage cheddar with either piccolo tomatoes or red onion….(Creature of habit, I tend to just stick to that)
And just to say, I have never had a bacon sandwich…🧐

Like everything on it but not on bread....Nicer as a salad in my opinion..

Make some mushroom and walnut pate. It’s delicious. Alexis Gautier has an easy recipe in YouTube. It keeps for a long time and can also be ftozen.

I also love smoked mackerel. I don't eat wheat so have a toasted Warburtons GF roll or "thin" with this, usually with horseradish and coleslaw or cucumber. I also love houmous in sandwiches, often with some spicy paste such as harissa or chipotle paste, some tomato and cucumber.
I make something similar to Swampy1962's mix, but also include chopped tomato and mildish chopped chilli - we usually have it on jacket potatoes but I'll have to try it in sandwiches too. My husband loves it, he's not a vegetable lover but this mix seems to sneak under his radar.

Love sandwiches!!! From Chicken salad with apple pieces or pear pieces, dried cranberries sweet relish and Mayo. I am allergic to peanuts so almond butter and jam. If I get sandwiches from my fav sandwich shop, it's always sliced turkey with bacon, blue cheese and tomato's and honey mustard. At home I make tuna with sweet relish, mayo and dill and crushed ritz crackers on tortilla wraps. So many choses.......
Breads, I like a good repeat good sour dough or a good tortilla wrap the wraps are not as messy as bread in my lunch box.
Lately I have been having deli plates with no breads or mayo....

One of my favourites is still in memory of the first shop bought sandwich I had, when I was about 18. It was M&S, grated strong cheddar, celery cut into very small chunks, mixed with just a bit of mayo, on wholemeal bread. Yum.

I'll make a thread within the thread. Something cooked that I can put in my bread and take to work. Needs fast cooking in the morning

In my world absolutely no sandwich compares with a squishy hard boiled egg with a little mayonnaise and thin slices of tomato with plenty of salt and pepper.

Lancashire crumbly cheese and homemade blackcurrant jam…
Delicious!

Would you add anything to Marmite in a sandwich or add Marmite to something else?

Marmite and peanut butter - ideally with watercress or rocket.
Yum!

...but no honey, Elegran
grin
Just peanut butter (or almond butter) with honey please!

On our way to stay with my M in L, always stopped off for lunch and always had the same sandwiches. Brie, ham and Dijon mustard. Prawns and an apple coleslaw. Both on lovely fresh bread and a shared bowl of the most amazing chips.

I make a vegan 'tuna mayo'. Crushed chick peas, vegan mayo, dijon mustard, flaked dulce, spring onion, capers lemon juice and salt/pepper. I replace butter with a jalapeno flavoured hummus. Probably topped with lettuce. I make enough for four days and store in the fridge. Makes a very filling sandwich, specially on two slices of Cranks' recipe wholemeal bread.

Smoked streaky bacon, lettuce and tomato layered with good mayo on a lightly toasted panini roll. Or smoked salmon and cream cheese. Or banana and peanut butter……. Okay, I’m hungry now!

I had some goat's cheese to use up, and rather a lot of small tomatoes in the fridge, so I roasted the halved tomatoes with some extra virgin olive oil and seasoning in the air fryer, and had them with goat's cheese. The combination worked well.

Sounds good. I’d enjoy that too.

Hello there. Banana and grated milk chocolate. Not healthy, sounds awful, tastes divine.

Why is my username in capitals? I know, my fault.

In my hill-walking days I often took cheese and jam sandwiches. It was recommended when, as a ranger-guide, I was doing a DofE award. Sliced apple and grated chocolate was another suggestion the leaders made.

Yesterday I made a sausage (chipolata) and new potato herby omelette. There was some left over so for my second breakfast I put some of it between slices of sourdough bloomer bread with a just a wee smear of wholegrain mustard.

I love a simple marmite plus sandwich, where the plus is something simple like thick slices of cucumber or a really tasty cos lettuce.

Aldom Tue 15-Jul-25 18:15:53

I'm with you 100% on the Marmite and salad sandwich MOnica. As I said up thread, it's my absolute favourite sandwich. smile

Aldom I should have further up thread.

I helped out this afternoon preparing an afternoon tea for a group of people and one of the favourite sandwich fillings was called cheese savoury. It was grated cheese, grated carrot mixed with mayonnaise. I was told it was a favourite with children and then their parents when they tried it.
