Can anyone recommend frozen chips that are crispy on the outside and do not taste of reconstituted potato inside, please?

I love the beef dripping chips from either Lidl or Aldi. The nearest I've had to chip shop chips. They are so tasty.

I don’t think you can beat old potatoes, chipped and deep fried in lard the old fashioned way just like our mums did them. There’s a lot to be said for the traditional ways………..yeah yeah, I know they’re not healthy but we don’t have to eat them every night of the week!

Chips cooked in the Air Fryer are delicious and don’t need much attention.

M&S frozen oven chips, gluten free. Triple cooked and French fries also good and gluten free.

I always cook them in my air fryer and always coat them with a little oil. I find this works well.

McCain Home fries oven chips if they have them in the supermarket. I like Albert Bartlett ones but they are more expensive

Crinkle chips hold a lot more fat than straight so I avoid. Straight chunky ones made fresh from real potatoes, skin on, one spray in oven or air fryer, once in a while is a treat.

The McCain crinkle cut oven chips aren’t awash with fat actually. Also, the thinner straight ones were much greasier and soggier, I found, hence the reason I said I had to throw them away.

I never buy frozen chips because of additives and always understood from dieticians and the like that crinkle cut pre prepared chips have more surface area, therefore more fat, and if watching weight which I always have had to do, should be avoided.

It’s so easy to make your own chips by cutting up potatoes, a couple of one sprays, and maybe paprika, but of salt if required , into the oven or air fryer and bingo, great chips made with 100% potato with no preservatives or additives.

We rarely have chips but if we do we always make our own.
