This appeared on Facebook this morning and I seem to remember some funny answers.
Worth a try?

“One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s nest- and then the murders began”

As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect, and then the murders began...

Stately, plump Buck Mulligan came from the stairhead, bearing a bowl of lather on which a mirror and a razor lay crossed ... and then the murders began.

Joyce's Ulysses.

The first postcard came from Forfar.

I thought you might like a picture of Forfar, it began. You have always been so interested in Scotland, and that is one reason why I am interested in you. I have enjoyed all of your books, but do you really get to grips with people? I doubt it. Try to think of this as a handshake from your devoted admirer, W.S.

The past is another country. They do things different here …and then the murders began.

Perhaps the OP could ask GNHQ to remove this thread for now because of the unfortunate murder of David Amess.

With all due respect Esspee nobody objected to this thread at the end of September when Sabina Nessa was murdered in Kidbrooke, or when teenager Hazrat Wali was stabbed to death in Twickenham just a couple of days ago.
What you have done is bring the thread back on to the Active page .
It is in no way disrespectful to David Amess or any of the many innocent victims of violence in this country or abroad.
I am sorry if it offends you.

The thread came back on the active page two hours before Esspee posted.

I guess people will decide for themselves if funny posts about murder are appropriate today.

He had never been among those many who deeply dislike church bells, but the ringing that evening at Holihaven changed his view. Bells could certainly get on one's nerves, he felt, although he had only just arrived in the town.
....and then, the murders began!
