Hello All! ? ?
I’ve tried to be more grammatically correct with the title this time.

Do you enjoy musical theatre?
??
Which is your favourite?

I love Jesus Christ Superstar; Cabaret; Oliver!; Sweeney Todd; Oklahoma
I could go on and on…

FannyCornforth Sat 21-May-22 13:27:41

henetha I studied art history to masters level.
It is fascinating- and such a wide ranging subject.

I absolutely loved school. Not infants as I was a nervous child and the Headmistress was a terrifying and strange woman.
But after that I adored it. I had a few hiccups (bullying) at the start of Secondary, but I managed and got through it.
I’d go back to that time in a flash

My Jubilee mice arrived yesterday!
They are gorgeous ?
I will post a photo later. ? ?

What was the last thing that you bought that you were really thrilled with?

MrsKen33 Sat 21-May-22 14:29:13

A pair of Josef Siebel sandals for DH from eBay. Brand new ,in a box and less than £20.They are brilliant.

Do you have an engagement , or eternity ring. If so whatever stones are they.?

AGAA4 Sat 21-May-22 14:59:00

I have an engagement and eternity ring. Both with diamonds.

Is there a time you would like to go back to just for a day?

biglouis Sat 21-May-22 15:05:36

I would like to go back to when I was a girl in the early 1950s when a big group of us played street games, built dens, went to the park and played in one anothers gardens or yards.

There is a very nostalgic song by Bob Dylan where he dreams of his young manhood before life intervened. It ends up "Ten thousand dollars at the drop of a hat, Id give it all gladly if our lives could be like that."

Have you ever written poetry?

I used to write a lot in my 20s but havnt for many years.

crazyH Sat 21-May-22 15:58:05

I too used to love writing poetry. The last one I wrote was for the wedding of one of my sons.

Do you still have milk and eggs delivered by the milkman? I dont, but my neighbour still does.

SachaMac Sat 21-May-22 16:03:11

I loved my junior school & later the local grammar school although it was very strict. They built a big new comprehensive school and merged three schools into one which was a bit of a nightmare. I didn’t hate it but I was quite happy to be leaving.

I’m off to see a play tonight a comedy, Ladies of Letters with Tessa Peake Jones & Gwyneth Strong. Do you enjoy plays or do you prefer the cinema or a musical performance.

AGAA4 Sat 21-May-22 17:07:56

I like all theatre and will be seeing a play in a few weeks. I went to see a musical a few weeks ago. Prefer theatre to cinema.

Do you have many hobbies

hollysteers Sat 21-May-22 18:18:40

crazyH question: I used to have milk etc delivered but not now.

If you felt you couldn’t carry on, would you go to Dignitas?

MrsKen33 Sun 22-May-22 17:36:39

I have a relative who did, many years ago. His wife who went with him has never been the same since. So I really don’t know.

We are offfor a break soon. DH has to have sweets in the car. Wine gums and humbugs. Do you do anything similar?

Mollygo Sun 22-May-22 18:07:28

We always used to have Basset’s Liquorice Allsorts, but now I buy seedless grapes.

Do you go and watch things just because your children, grandchildren or friends are in it? I’ve just watched a swimming gala-like being in a sauna for 3 hours!

BrightandBreezy Sun 22-May-22 19:30:56

Hi Molly go. Yes we have done on our share of cheering the grandchildren coming in last on sports day or watching them in the chorus of two hour school productions, smiling encouragingly while they present their one line speaking part. ?

Are you going abroad this year? If so where are you going?

grannyrebel7 Sun 22-May-22 20:28:48

Electric. I only fill the kettle enough for two cups now and I don't use the oven as much as I used to.
Have you ever done anything you regret? At this moment I'm regretting getting our puppy as she's just peed on the sofa!

biglouis Mon 23-May-22 01:30:09

Ive done lots of things I regret! The thing I regret most was going to work for an employer at 16 and staying til I wa sin my 40s. Should have gone self employed.

Are you a "Rule Follower"

Show me a set of rules and I will look for a way to push the boundaries or to subvert them to my advantage. I love gaming the system.

FannyCornforth Mon 23-May-22 02:35:15

This thread sometimes goes a bit bonkers. I have no idea what question grannyrebels answer ‘electric’ referred to!

Biglouis in most cases yes, I’m a rule follower.
But I won’t be told what to do if I don’t agree with it.
Especially in a work situation.
I have very strong opinions about some things, and I know when I know best.

Have you ever smoked?
I used to smoke about 5 menthol cigarettes a day up (but only with an alcoholic drink) until about 8 years ago.

MrsKen33 Mon 23-May-22 04:52:36

Yes when I was at college anything really. Balkan Soubranies were my favourite cigarettes. They were long and black. DH smoked Gauloise. Gave up when the children were small. Just like that.?
Which famous cook do you like?. I make a lot of Otto Lenghi recipes

FannyCornforth Mon 23-May-22 09:21:06

MrsKen I liked the Cocktail Soubranies! They were so pretty!
My friend and I would go halves on a box of them if we were going on a special night out (they tasted ‘orrible though!)

I don’t really cook at all at the moment as I can’t stand any longer than it takes to make a salad/ bung something in the oven.

But my favourite cook book is Leith’s Vegetarian Bible.
It’s brilliant.
When I up to cooking again I will treat myself to a new copy because mine has lost it’s cover and been chewed by a long gone puppy (but that’s probably a reason not to replace it)

Did you have a good weekend?

henetha Mon 23-May-22 09:39:53

Yes thankyou. I went to a garden centre on Saturday and bought more plants. And my elder son came to dinner yesterday and stayed the evening.
(I wanted to say to you, FannyCornforth, talking about Art History recently, that I think that's wonderful and I'm deeply envious of you smile).

Have your feet got bigger as you get older? Mine have. Is this normal?

FannyCornforth Mon 23-May-22 09:53:16

Oh, thank you, too henetha! smile

I actually think that mine have shrunk confused
But it might be that the rest of me has got bigger, so it’s a sort of optical illusion…

What was the last gift that you gave; and also received?
I’ve sent my dad a little lemon tree, ‘just because’. It’s arriving today

AGAA4 Mon 23-May-22 10:10:33

What a lovely thoughtful thing to do Fanny.

I sent a friend some chocolates for her birthday last week. The last present I had was some chocolate brownies from my DD and that was for no particular reason

Would you travel abroad on your own?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 23-May-22 13:18:25

No, I think I'd feel very lonely travelling on my own. I like my own company but a holiday alone I think would be a step too far.

Have you ever been to the Chelsea Flower Show?

biglouis Mon 23-May-22 18:06:23

Have you ever been to the Chelsea Flower Show?

I went once when I was in London many years ago. When I was younger there used to be a famous flower show in a town nearby and I enjoyed that, but only as a visitor.

Have you ever been to a street party?

I have not been since the coronation. Some neighbours near me are organizing a garden party and sent around a note. Its not my thing so I sent an RSVP just to be polite but cited "other plans"

Mollygo Mon 23-May-22 18:37:14

Yes for the HM’s silver jubilee. Great fun and no responsibility except to turn up.

Mollygo Mon 23-May-22 18:38:49

Sorry forgot a question - Do you get at least 30 minutes in sunlight per day to boost your vitamin D?

hollysteers Tue 24-May-22 10:48:48

Not regularly, more in occasional spurts, but I take Vitamin D on prescription as well as magnesium and a multivitamin.

Do you make an effort to get a tan in the summer?

AGAA4 Tue 24-May-22 11:12:26

No but as I walk most days for an hour I do get a bit of a tan. I try not to have too much exposure and wear a hat and a light top with sleeves when it's hot.

Do you enjoy hot days?
