Hello! ?

By my reckoning, this thread will see us through until we are near to C********!

SachaMac’s question was ‘if you could travel back to any time or place for one day, where / when would it be’?

I’m still mulling it over…

FannyCornforth Fri 26-Aug-22 07:27:38

hollysteers

Is this the end of the question thread Fanny?
I hope not ?

No, no! Of course not! I’m glad that you like it by the way, I saw you mentioned it on another thread ?

FannyCornforth Fri 26-Aug-22 07:33:49

MrsKen33

1960s when I was at art school.

What is your favourite clothes label? Mine ,sadly is Toast, but it is so expensive.

I don’t really have one at the moment, because not many places do stuff in my size. I’m not actually that big, but I like things a couple of sizes up too.

Most of my clothes come from Sea Salt (which is a GN favourite)
I also like dresses like the ones that Kirstie Alsop wears. I used to know the designers name, but I’ve forgotten it. They are about £500.
I really like the way Helena Bonham Carter dresses, I think that she wears a lot of Westwood.
Sorry, I’m rambling!

Who’s look do you admire? ?

FannyCornforth Fri 26-Aug-22 07:34:06

Whose! Dammit!

DanniRae Fri 26-Aug-22 07:43:22

Jane Mcdonald when she's on one of her cruises.

What book are you reading at the moment? I am reading a book on my kindle - "One Man and His Bike" - a true record of a man cycling all around Great Britain (Second time of reading and just as enjoyable!!)

Mollygo Fri 26-Aug-22 09:44:49

I’m reading/listening to Dumped Actually -a left-over from my pile of frivolous reads for the summer. I’ve never read anything like it before.

Do you try something different from your usual choice of reads when you’re on holiday, just for fun?

henetha Fri 26-Aug-22 09:47:53

Yes. That's how I got into these psychological thrillers which I am now hooked on.

Have you ever been to a fancy dress party? What was your costume?

SachaMac Fri 26-Aug-22 10:28:02

Yes but only on a few occasions, I’ve done glam rock (Marc Bolan), Snow White and one Boxing Day, many years ago I ended up going as Nell Gwyn, it was about the only outfit left in the hire shop.

Do you enjoy hosting family parties at your house or do you prefer all meeting up in a pub or restaurant to celebrate.

hollysteers Fri 26-Aug-22 12:50:30

I used to have a lot of family gatherings here, with all that entails, but now widowed, I prefer eating out or my DC help.

What did you never hear said growing up?
(Pass the remote)

MrsKen33 Fri 26-Aug-22 14:44:48

Mother to children “What would you like for tea tonight?”

We ate what we were given.

Do you have hard floors or carpet? We have carpet upstairs, wood down. Just cleaned it all.

AGAA4 Fri 26-Aug-22 14:51:33

All carpet here. Just hoovered it all.

Do you have double glazing?

HowVeryDareYou Fri 26-Aug-22 15:14:08

All our windows and doors are UPVC double glazed.

Have you got a garden?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 26-Aug-22 15:40:03

Yes, I've a small pocket handkerchief sized garden which faces south. I hope it looks cottagey.

What is the orientation of your garden or for those without, your main room?

MrsKen33 Fri 26-Aug-22 16:09:25

Front garden, with very large pond, faces south, but we are shaded by large trees.

What is your favourite plant in your garden?

biglouis Fri 26-Aug-22 21:57:08

I like traditional English roses

Are you planning anything special for bank holiday?

I will be busy working getting customer orders out the door but planning to take most of september off

hollysteers Sat 27-Aug-22 10:13:42

Tomorrow I’m going with a friend to a Tudor exhibition the meal.. Had to book and pay for tickets for exhibition. Nothing planned apart from that.

Have you found a difference working for men or women?

henetha Sat 27-Aug-22 10:21:55

Yes, I definitely preferred working for men. They are fairer and less scary, I always found.

Do you get depressed at bank holidays? It always hits me hard. this bank holiday stuff, everyone else having fun while I'm alone. Sorry, I will bounce back soon. Anyway, do you like bank holidays? Do you do anything in particular?

henetha Sat 27-Aug-22 10:23:49

Sorry, I just saw that question asked above.

So... what do you do with the garden when summer plants are past their best? Do you plant hanging baskets with winter plants, heather maybe, and ivy? Any ideas please?

MrsKen33 Sat 27-Aug-22 11:12:27

Both questions. Big garden which was well stocked when we moved in. Seems always full of different things

We don’t usually do much on Bank holidays as we live near the sae and it is usually heaving. Went to a food festival this morning. Very disappointing . Only 3 stalls with food products, the rest cards and jewellery
So what might everyone else be planning ?

AGAA4 Sat 27-Aug-22 14:43:45

I don't do much at Bank Holiday. Too busy. I prefer to go out at quieter times.

Have you had much rain yet?

hollysteers Sat 27-Aug-22 21:08:30
