Hello! ?

By my reckoning, this thread will see us through until we are near to C********!

SachaMac’s question was ‘if you could travel back to any time or place for one day, where / when would it be’?

I’m still mulling it over…

SachaMac Sat 22-Oct-22 19:51:13

Marc Bolan, the first single I brought was Jeepster. sad he wasn’t around for longer.

Same question again.

Cliff Richard - Living Doll

What is your earliest childhood memory?
For some reason, I remember struggling to climb over a little step to get to the kitchen. I probably was about 2- 3 years old

biglouis Sun 23-Oct-22 01:34:33

Reading a book in my grandmothers house (age 4) and she rewarded me with a cream cake.

Do you need glasses to use a computer or tablet?

My eyesight is not what it was but I can still manage without them.

MrsKen33 Sun 23-Oct-22 06:54:02

I have worn glasses since I was nine. I have since lockdown used a computer quite a lot and lately have noticed a change in one eye especially. I have an appointment at the optician next week.
We have the most beautiful tree in our front garden, now the leaves are a bright orange and yellow. Do you have anything near you that lifts your heart?

biglouis Sun 23-Oct-22 08:37:40

I love to watch the cats patrolling the area and traipsing through my garden. There is a big black fluffy one who comes to watch me whenever I do a photo shoot.

Are you a cat or a dog person?

FannyCornforth Sun 23-Oct-22 08:45:23

Oh he’s lovely! I’d love a black cat. ?
Both I’m afraid.
I always say that I love ‘my’ dog, but I love ‘all’ cats.
My dogs really have been my children.

What about you?
Dogs, cats, both, neither?

HowVeryDareYou Sun 23-Oct-22 09:29:37

I adore cats. Over the past 42 years, we've had several (all rescues, apart from my current cat, who was feral. He's now 19, deaf, has only got one eye, no fangs, and he cannot climb now. Here he is....(before he lost one eye)

Do your grandchildren sleep over at your home?

HowVeryDareYou Sun 23-Oct-22 09:30:33

BigLouis that black cat is so handsome.

henetha Sun 23-Oct-22 10:07:47

Not any more. They are all adults now, but they used to when they were children and it was good fun, mostly.
(can I just say that I love cats and now that I am getting over losing Wiggy I'm thinking of getting a one. But would the cat rescue places regard me as too old?)

Do you ever enter photographic competitions? The countryfile one, for instance, or the BBC website one?
Or any other competitions similar?

AGAA4 Sun 23-Oct-22 17:01:15

No I don't go in for competitions now. I used to but never won anything.

Have you had very heavy rain today? I'm glad of it really as the river nearby had dried up over the summer.

Lomo123 Sun 23-Oct-22 18:20:44

Torrential rain in Glasgow this afternoon. Had to take refuge in a pub!. Favourite time of day.

biglouis Sun 23-Oct-22 19:14:42

Certainly the evening when Ive dont my tasks for the day and can relax.

Have you ever had to tell a child (or grandchild) that they cant have something and explain the reason?

I was often told this as a kid the usual reason being that there was no money for that.

FannyCornforth Mon 24-Oct-22 06:17:15

Constantly. I worked in primary for over ten years, with some very challenging children.
No kids of my own.
I don’t remember asking for much as a child myself.
I wasn’t spoiled by any stretch, but I never went without either.

I was (am) an only child.
What are you?
Were / are you happy with the situation?

NotAGran55 Mon 24-Oct-22 06:34:22

I’m the middle child and love my big brother and little sister.

What type of food do you enjoy cooking the most and least?
Baking is my favourite and I detest cooking a roast dinner which I will have to do in 2 months time!

FannyCornforth Mon 24-Oct-22 06:49:07

NotAGran good morning!
Is it you who is hosting 20 at Christmas? Sorry if I’ve got that wrong - I know someone started a thread about it recently

I like cooking vegetable stew when I’m in the mood.
I put everything in it other than meat.
Im not a keen cook, I wish that I was.
If I spend a lot of time cooking something, I don’t want to eat it. And it’s only me and MrFC, so it’s not worth it.

Your reaction to Johnson retreating?
Mine: ?

hollysteers Mon 24-Oct-22 10:22:25

Indifferent and fear he may pop up again in 24…
Are you a Republican or a Monarchist?

biglouis Mon 24-Oct-22 16:41:13

I dont have any strong feelings either way but am generally in favour of monarchy (albeit a very much cut down scandi one) rather than a republic.

Does the value of the £ on international markets immediately affect you/your family?

It affects my business as I buy in stock from overseas for my business.

hollysteers Mon 24-Oct-22 22:35:03

It affects my investments.

Do you have any strange crushes? (Tom Newton Dunn ?)

FannyCornforth Tue 25-Oct-22 05:04:57

Ooh Holly! Spooky! ?
That was going to be my question!
Imagine my surprise to see that you’d got there first!
I’m going to have to look up Tom ND now, I don’t know who he is.
My current weird crush is a presenter on LBC called Ian Payne.
I know that we’d make a lovely couple.

Same question, of course smile
(*Ken*, I’m not going to let you get away with you-know-who, he’s not at all weird enough)

FannyCornforth Tue 25-Oct-22 05:07:51

Oh, I can definitely see his appeal Holly
Broadcasters have always been my cup of tea, I’ve also got a 20 year old thing for Ian Collins!

MrsKen33 Tue 25-Oct-22 06:44:20

Hugo Bachega at present. But I am very fickle .

Same question please

Mollygo Tue 25-Oct-22 09:43:30

Not exactly a crush, but I’m always disappointed when Owain Wynne-Evans doesn’t do our weather forecast.

Which TV personality do you think is most self obsessed. I can’t take to Freddie Flintoff.

hollysteers Tue 25-Oct-22 11:18:44

I can’t stand the arrogant Giles Coren.
(Fanny I’m afraid Ian Payne bats for the other side, so it would have to be platonic)

Same question please

biglouis Tue 25-Oct-22 11:31:57

Gordon Ramsay - cant stand the man. Not just the arrogance but he is a foul mouthed bully.

Which TV personality do you think has been misjudged? Maybe you see another side to them.

I think David Beckham gets a worse press than he deserves. Yes he mouthed off about not getting an honour but he does a lot for charity/sport and is a great role model. People who have achieved a lot less have been honoured.

FannyCornforth Tue 25-Oct-22 11:36:34

hollysteers

Same question please

Holly Are you sure about that? Where did you hear that?
He was married and has AC.
I’m stunned! shock
