First daisy flower of the year! I know it's a long time till spring proper yet, but it's a sign. It's a SIGN, I tell you! sunshine

Hey ho.

Snow blizzard this morning but it's melted now. If any frogs turn up in the pond they'll need macs. and galoshes like Jeremy Fisher.

Little flakes blowing around on the wind - not what you'd call a blizzard - yet.

Nice blizzard (or three) here yesterday. Ice in the pond this morning and more snow on the hills. The outside temperature got up to 3.5° and is now falling again, but it was lovely in the sun getting six loads of wood from the woodshed, and pruning a climbing rose that was growing into the woodshed, and finding that my parsley is sprouting smile

Butty...and today the scene is just as lovely but the sea is slightly skittish... smile

Laced through the brittle woodland floor
At end of Winter's detritus
Gentle pale, wild daffodils
Just mellow
Not trumpet yellow
Grew
Without a shout for their beauty
In their wilderness of peace.

Butty your poem is beautiful. smile

Stunning crescent moon shining tonight.

Beautiful poem, Butty smile It depicts perfectly the wild daffodils that are growing by the little stream in the woods near my house.

Bluebells are clumped and preparing to take over when the daffodils fade away. I love spring! smile

I drew back the curtains this morning and watched a female blackbird busily trying to drag a 5 ft long straggly weed through the picket fence from next door's garden. She's still tryimg 10 minutes later, poor thing. She must be planning a large family this year! grin

Butty Sat 16-Mar-13 09:35:51

grin. Perhaps it's her first time at nest building!

whenim64 Sat 16-Mar-13 09:46:05

Well, she managed it! The straggly weed has gone and so has Mrs Blackbird. The mind boggles! grin

Lovely poem, Butty, I think it captures the essence of the wild daffodils better than Wordsworth's!

Hooray!
I have frogspawn! Gary tells me I have loads of it in the pond. Apparently it's a lot deeper than usual.
Come on you old nature people, is this significant?
Does this mean there is thick ice on the way?

Oldgreymare Tue 19-Mar-13 18:30:18

Butty... lovely poem... walked up the combe at Hestercombe yesterday and there they were, just as you described them sunshine!

Oldgreymare Tue 19-Mar-13 18:31:10

Galen Less of the old, please wink

If it gets too cold it's the survival of the fittest luckiest. Those near the top die - those underneath survive.....usually. smile
