I have a beautiful Magnolia Strellata which is a real picture for about 3 weeks every spring with the daffodils underneath it on a lawn.
However it has become very large now & is blocking the view to the flower bed behind it. I know Magnolias do not like pruning but does anyone know if it is really dangerous to cut them back & if it can be done then at which time of the year?
It would really be a case of taking out the lower branches to allow us to see the bed behind it.
I don't want to lose it- it was here when we moved here in 1992 so is very well established. I have never cut it back before.
