My daughter bought a young hydrangea recently and planted it in her small front garden. She has carefully looked after it, giving it plenty of water on dry days, so she is really disappointed to find it looking sickly with the leaves being eaten by something.
It is surrounded by gravel which I would have thought would deter slugs and snails, but maybe not. We have always noticed, though, that the whole area seems to be infested with small spiders - would they be the culprits? If so does anyone have any suggestions on how to protect the plant?
