Try some cyclamen Maybee70, I’ve got the same problem with trees in one part of my garden, and they do really well, and are so pretty now.

The grass struggles in that part of the garden, too.

Don’t let that put you off trying them, they like dry shade in the summer, but moist in the other seasons. They are quite shallow rooted, so they will be fine except if your trees are conifers, I don’t think anything will grow in the shade of conifers except very hardy weeds!

I’m surrounded by pine trees. That’s why I have to plant things that like ericaceous soil eg Skimmia. Euonymus grows well too and adds a splash of colour to the garden.

Not all epimedium die back. This is one of mine today. It has yellow flowers and spreads!

The one I’ve got in a pot at the moment isn’t dying back. I’m wondering if the leaves need cutting back in spring to expose the flowers? The leaves are lovely.

I do cut the leaves right back when the flowers start to appear.

I’m going to struggle to do that as the leaves are lovely and the flowers aren’t much at all. I’ve not had one in a pot before, the previous ones were under a mock orange in a shady area. My neighbour has one in a pot in her front garden and it’s died off because it’s been in full sunlight.

These are 2 of mine. I think cutting back the leaves encourages the flowers. The yellow one flowers for quite a long time. They are in partial shade.

Mine don’t flower that well. I wonder if we’re the sole members of the epimedium appreciation society?

If you know what you want, Ebay has a number of excellent plant sellers. The ones I have used give good information about the cultivation and care of the plants they provide. A few will give free postage, but otherwise, I've found the postage charges worth paying.

I received my plants off of Farmyard and have to say I was not overly impressed but then I don’t know a lot about plants. Is this plant meant to look like this? Also it came with about half a ton of straw for three plants, I know it’s Farmyard but goodness me I didn’t expect that much straw ?

I actually just looked on Amazon for some copper tape but they were quite a few reviews saying that the slugs just crawled over it..?‍♀️

Slugs will crawl over broken glass to get to Hostas. You have to eliminate the slugs. Nematodes are your friend here.

I’ve just looked them up!! ?.. I do have a wildlife pond and have frogs so maybe they will get slugs…

And what if I stand my plant pots on this? ?

Calling on your wisdom and advice please about these pots I would love to plant them up,well at least one of them but I don’t know what the plants are…?????‍♀️

Look like Coleus and Petunia Million Belles to me. Not sure about the other plants.
