Last blooms from the garden?

A few still going strong! We’ve also got a very ancient viburnum that is smothered in flowers. Nature’s wonderful, if a little confused at the moment!

I love yellow Rose's squiffy (well any Rose's truth be told) yours is a nice clear yellow colour.
Does the Viburnum have scent?

Sorry, I’ve only just seen your post Namsnanny. Yes, the viburnum’s scented, but it’s too far from the house to smell it indoors. The rose bush was new this year and the first couple of roses on the bush were a soft pale apricot colour, but subsequent blooms have been yellow! I wonder what colour they’ll be next year …

Looking forward, my sweet peas are just coming through🙂.

Mine disappeared with the hot summer 😦, so thought I’d sow now, and then in the spring to try to make them last.

Jasmine Nudiflorum and Mahonia are now in flower in my garden so when the Autumn blooms stop coming these start. Nice to have some cheer.

My Bonica rose still has a mass of pink flowers. Madame Alfred on the back wall still has a few flowers. We have one delphinium in the front garden and some purple flowers (can’t remember the name) in flower. I may have a photo.

Is your garden in a sheltered position Ladyleftfieldlover?

I love Delphiniums, they dont like me though beautiful blues.
If you do find that photo I'd like to see it.

It is nice to have some cheerful flowers as the nights draw in 25Avalon Funnily, I've just planted some Cheerfulness Daffs.

I havent planted my sweet peas Wwmk2 are yours in the garden or pots? If I did mine they would have to be in pots in the spare bedroom on the windowsill.

I love having scent through the autumn and winter. I've planted a few small Wintersweet shrubs, for that reason. I think the strongest scent in winter comes from the Viburnum family.
I must try to find space for one

My sweet peas are in root trainers that rot in the ground - if that makes sense - in in a cold frame in the garden.

Soon I will see the shoots of the snowdrops. I need to move some this year as they have spread and need splitting.

Ladyleftfieldlover I have just purchased a bare root Bonica rose from Peter Beatles for £10 in their special sale. It’s not arriving till December. I thought it would be good. Looking forward to seeing it next year.

My sole potted begonia is still going strong, amid the sad wet mess of fallen beech leaves. Must do another clear up soon, though there are still masses to come.

I'm with you on the leaves situation Witzend. Very slippery on the paths.
I have large flowered begonias, which have buds still, but the flowers have dropped off as the temperature had lowered. I'm not sure when to lift the corns. Each time its dry and sunny a bud comes out!

I wish my Snowdrops would just live past 3 years! I keep replacing them, but it's a fool's errand, Wwmk2

Just picked the rose Olivia yesterday for a vase. The blooms are much smaller than I get in the summer, but there are still quite a few more on the bushes.

The snowdrops that do best are in shade in my garden - that might help?

Wwmk2 Thanks for the advice, I will certainly try it.
They're so important to me, as a harbinger of better times, that I will try anything to keep them going.
If all else fails I shall result to buying a pot already grown on, and put it on the doorstep so it will be the first thing I see.
Gardening is a bit of a mystery at times I find.

Yes I have always bought and planted them “in the green” in winter/early spring.

I move them then as well, even if they are flowering - they always do ok .

I'm glad you took a photo Wwmk2 . Olivia looks the quintessential English Rose, straight out of a Tudor garden. In my imagination anyway.
