My DNA ethnicity was updated yesterday on Ancestry and I am now more Irish than before. They say my DNA doesn't alter but that the way it's interpreted is.
Has anyone else been puzzled by their changes?

@VB000 I wonder if some of the Irish has overlaid the Scottish. I know for sure that a several times great grandfather [with a very common name so am thinking DNA is going to be the only way to find out more] came from 'Scotland' but none shows up but 53% Irish does.
Have done both children. One has a lot of Irish but 0% Scottish, the other has a much smaller % Irish but 3% Scottish, Have been wondering if the Scottish has showed up in this one because there is less Irish IYSWIM They appear to havae 0 Scottish from their father, so the Scottish must only have come via me. Likewise the Scandinavian bit, as grandmother's family all came from the area round the Humber.
Interestingly, although in my breakdown it says of my Irish that it is from Connaught which figures with what we know, with the children it says Munster. Was the Munster bit overshadowed by the greater amount of Connaught DNA, and the tiny bit of Irish they got from their father Munster too so it shows up. Interesting as one of the families looks to have come from down there

I think there is some confusion with the western side of the country (Scottish, Welsh and Irish). I was originally told Irish some years ago but I knew I wasn't, then eventually they realised it was actually Welsh. The celtic DNA is confusing them.

The more people who join changes the way they work out what you DNA means so it is ever changing .
