Just wondering if there is anyone like me who was born in June 1944 …. My mum was very proud of the fact that I was born on “d-day plus 2” and really drummed that fact into me.

Happy Birthday MaizieD, and to Sir Tom Jones, 84 tomorrow, who gave a moving musical tribute to the fallen.
We were watching the coverage with French friends who came to lunch. The lady said that her father, as a young boy in Brittany, had been playing around a German vehicle with his friends during the occupation when the soldiers came out and shouted at them in threatening tones. He ran home and hid behind the wardrobe traumatised. Apparently, he wouldn't come out for ages, and his parents had to move the wardrobe to rescue him. 😥
