Acording to the news this morning, chocolate is supposed to keep you young, hands up all the grannies on here who are still in their early teens..

This is great news indeed.

Milk chocolate, dark, white? Did they specify?

pably15 Mon 15-Dec-25 18:25:09

Better try every kind,,,just to be sure...

A gigantic Toblerone every week keeps the doctor away 😋😁

Ooohh! Great news! Now, where’s the Christmas chocs????

I'm sitting here looking at a box of Golden Caramel Toblerone Truffles. I bought them for a present ,,but they do look nice

The researchers found a molecule ( theobromine?) that has anti-aging properties in dark chocolate. However sadly it’s not clear if there is evidence we should eat more chocolate - but I’m willing to give it a try!

pably15 Mon 15-Dec-25 19:02:30

Well we can only try, however dificult that might be, someone has to do it,

midgey Mon 15-Dec-25 19:03:57

Presumably the experts mean ‘proper’ chocolate! So many brands now have very little chocolate in the mix. I can’t eat palm oil and that is in so much ‘chocolate’ now.

I think it has to be high percentage dark chocolate. I don't think that OD-ing on Dairy milk fits the bill and I don't think that white chocolate is even chocolate.sad

I saw a neurologist a few years ago who recommended 2 squares of 70% chocolate, 2 strong coffees and a glass of red wine a day.
Plus statins which I ignored 🤣

JamesandJon33 Mon 15-Dec-25 19:49:05

Me✋🏻✋🏻 Two squares an evening and over 70% Though I did have a square of Dubai chocolate last week to see what it was like…lovely

That’s my kind of diet.

MayBee70 Mon 15-Dec-25 22:13:40

That’s included in my new cholesterol lowering diet. Problem is I don’t usually drink wine although I do like a bit with the chocolate.I’ve been buying Bournville chocolate although when the supply I’ve bought from BM Bargains is gone I don’t know where to get it from.

Casdon Mon 15-Dec-25 22:24:27

Bournville doesn’t cut it MayBee70, because the cocoa content is low. You could try Aldi Moser Roth, which is 85% cocoa, I think they do one that’s 70% too. I like the Co Op fair trade Irresistible 85% one best, but I think you have to try quite a few to decide what suits you.

Allira Mon 15-Dec-25 22:39:51

I have developed a taste for Lindt dark chocolate with a touch of sea salt. Just a couple of squares every now and then.
Yes, I know salt isn't supposed to be good for us, but we do need some, don't we.

What a good idea 😂

Casdon Mon 15-Dec-25 22:42:31

I know, it’s tough, as you have to do the same with the wine and coffee too, it’s my life’s work.

Allira Mon 15-Dec-25 22:43:43

😂

You'll look younger and younger!

Casdon Mon 15-Dec-25 22:45:20

If only!

I can’t bear coffee. No hope for me, then😫

Oh no. It looks very dark!

MayBee70 Mon 15-Dec-25 23:52:48

I hadn’t thought to look at the ingredients as it doesn’t taste very sweet…
