New grandchild in 2013?

I know there are a few of us in happy anticipation of a new grandchild this year. My daughter's baby is due in February and she's chosen NOT to know the gender; although names for either have been chosen and I do like them both very much. I am very excited at the prospect of being present at the birth, as I was with daughter's first baby - and happily my lovely son in law is glad to share the experience.
Who else is an expectant gran/grandfather?

Oh kitty that's lovely news. Welcome to Persephone and hopefully Bertie won't be too put out to find an addition to the family this morning. flowers

Congratulations to new arrivals. I would love more GCs but given that DGS is only just 6/12 I think I am being rather impatient.

I rather doubt if DS will ever produce any with his current partner and if he did I have reservations about how often I would get to see them. She's an odd funny woman! I am sure he would be a very good Dad though.

Congratulations kitty I am so pleased to hear that baby Persephone has arrived safely and all is well. It's a very pretty name.

Thank you for all your kind wishes.

I've just uploaded 2 photographs of Persie on my profile. As well as bringing in the Spring, Persephone is known as a 'wrecker' but we are hoping she doesn't follow this path as her brother is more than capable of performing that task on his own. grin

I'm still not convinced that 'Persephone' is conducive with being bellowed from the back step.

Congratulations to all, kittylester! smile

What gorgeous hair!

whenim64 Thu 28-Mar-13 17:48:34

My great-niece is called Natallia and her friend is Savannah, known collectively (and for bellowing purposes) as SatNav grin

kittylester Thu 28-Mar-13 17:53:17

when that made me smile. smile

Persie's mum is nicknamed Al and her best friend at school was called Elanor (El). Poor girls got lots of teasing when people realised that, collectively, they were named after an airline. grin

Have just found out today that my middle son and his wife are expecting their first baby in October. I am thrilled for them, they lost a baby through miscarriage last year around this time. My son has two teenage children but this is their first together. Also my daughter is expecting her second baby in July. I am going to be so busy. These new additions will make 11 grandchildren!

glassortwo Mon 01-Apr-13 20:27:31

Just heard that the next grandchild will be ANOTHER boy smile From having nobody left to carry on the family name we now have three! At least all the boys clothes will be recycled yet again.

Sook Fri 31-May-13 22:19:09

Same here Deeda DH is feeling very smug that our unusual surname will be carried through to the next generation by our three DGS. grin

Grandchild number 4 due mid November and we know its going to be a boy, he is to be given his granddads name such is the tradition here. Usually the eldest son would name their first born after granddad but I don't think having children appeals to my eldest so his younger brother is carrying on the tradition. My daughter in law is happy to go along with it because where she comes from, eastern Europe, there is a similar tradition.

Mind you my 3rd grandchild was said to be a boy from very early on but a scan very late into the pregnancy informed us he was actually a she.

I was with my daughter for all of her deliveries and if we cant get daughter in laws mum here for the wee one arriving it will be my daughter who attends the birth. They are rather close. My son doesn't want to be at the birth and my daughter in law doesn't want him to be there either.

Shame really that your son won't be there. My son-in-law was at all 3 of his
children's births, as much as possible anyway as they were all delivered by
CS.
i'd have liked to have been there for #4 on March14th, but it was lovely to see
him later on in the day. I stayed with them for 3 weeks after Quinn's
arrival - tiring sometimes but sooo worth it! they're in Oz, and quality time
is so important for us far-away Grans.
