nervous disposition

its natural to feel nervous.
But to feel nervous day and night without Just cause means something is wrong.
Unfortunately I Have That Problem.
It Means I tremble all the Time.
And when it's really Bad my head nods back and forth and it can be difficult to control it.
I Don't know why I am so nervously disposed but I'm sure there must be a reasonable explanation?
Being shy I think can make it worse.
I'm aware that there are many people in the world with similar health problems but I still feel quite alone with regard to this problem.
As far as I know I'm the only one that has it in my family?
My dear mum sadly has bad nerves now due to being diabetic and I guess her age may play a Part as Well?
She is 70.
I'd love to find a cure for this problem.
and to be able to stand up straight without any trembling at all and no longer feel embarrassed about it.
I hate seeing myself in the mirror and noticing my head nodding.
can anyone else relate to this problem?
If so how do you cope with it?

Ypp said I think on another thread that you use cannabis and alcohol although not an alcoholic. Might there be a connection?

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 24-Jul-14 16:00:34

I can remember the trembling. You worry that someone will notice. You can't enjoy anything.

I say, thank God for fluoxetine. I've never looked back to those awful times since I started taking it. I am very lucky that a little, fairly innocuous, capsule could turn my life around the way it did.

Soutra why don't you leave this alone? You don't know what you are talking about.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 24-Jul-14 16:03:18

I take it you have been to see the doctor about this Trevor? And that your mum has too.

There are other diseases that make you shake.

Trevor47 Thu 24-Jul-14 16:08:35

Yes I Did Soutra.
But I gave up drugs and alcohol and have been clean for over 20 years and I feel so much better for it.
No more relying on tenants beer and so called spliffs to calm my nerves.
I Doubt there is a connection between my drug and alcohol misuse though?
Because I am aware that my nerves were just as bad before I started using drugs and drink.
I guess the years of drinking and smoking didn't do me good health wise of course
but there must be a reason why I have this nervous disposition?
As far as I know no one else in my family has it so it may not be something that runs in my family?
what I do know is that I hate being like this soutra.
best wishes
from trevor

oh yes jinglebells
many times over the years.
but none of them have been able to understand why I am like this?
as for mummy, she sees her doctor regularly for her diabetes and other health problems.
she is a strong minded lady and so despite her illnesses she does her best to keep going.
I wish I was as strong minded as her.
but unfortunately I tend to worry Too Much and Hide away rather than face things.

SORRY! I thought you were ignoring me. And it's not easy to talk about some things.

Sorry again.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 24-Jul-14 16:15:24

You don't need to understand why you are like it. You just need the right medication from the doctor.

Trevor47 Thu 24-Jul-14 16:16:51

I have taken propananol for my nervous problem Jingle-bells.
I find that it Helps but only to a certain extent.
I t doesn't stop the physical shaking completely.
and Yes the trembling does make me feel even more self conscious Than normal and I try hard to control it.
for example if you saw me and spoke to me you would notice i would start touching my neck or my cheek and all because I wouldn't want you to notice me trembling.
it's a terrible way to be and live from day to day Jingle.

Trevor47 Thu 24-Jul-14 16:18:32

Thats OK Jingle.
No offense taken.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 24-Jul-14 16:18:56

Good. smile

Trevor47 Thu 24-Jul-14 16:19:44

its also cause i'm still very shy despite my age and experience.

Trevor47 Thu 24-Jul-14 16:21:26

I agree.
I know now that spliffs and tenants certainly ain't the right medication thats for sure.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 24-Jul-14 16:22:43

I think propanalol just works "physically" - by keeping your heart rate steady.Fluoxetine works on the neurons in your brain. The end result is that you have more serotonin sloshing around, which is calming.

Trevor47 Thu 24-Jul-14 16:23:24

I can remember Trying The flu Med Jingle.
but they made me feel drowsy for days after so I'm reluctant to use them anymore.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 24-Jul-14 16:23:49

Yes. Shyness is a bugbear.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 24-Jul-14 16:24:25

Oh, that's a shame. sad

Trevor47 Thu 24-Jul-14 16:28:33

Well That's something I didn't know before
so thank you for enlightening me Jingle.
even now as I sit typing I can feel myself trembling.
and my head nodding as usual.
I think this is why I'm so sensitive and I worry what people will think of me if they notice me trembling?
Just seeing myself in the bathroom mirror everyday is painful.
the only thing I feel good about is that people say I look young for my age and That I'm cute ; 0 )
I just wish I didn't have this nervous problem and wasn't so shy.

Trevor47 Thu 24-Jul-14 16:33:43

I made the mistake of trying to be like my dad and so I would try to put on this serious don't mess with me look
but that was just a Front Jingle
The truth was I was so shy and insecure behind it all...and very unhappy.
I think I learned too late that it is OK to be me nerves and all.
after all no one is perfect.
even the great jazz drummer buddy rich wore a wig to cover his baldness.
and when I think about that now I wonder why he didn't except his physical flaws and just carry on with his career rather than hiding it behind a wig?
I can only presume it was due to male pride or even a bit of shyness somewhere?

Soutra Thu 24-Jul-14 18:12:52

Oops pardon me for asking jingl! Is anybody here an expert on alcohol and cannabis abuse then?

TriciaF Fri 25-Jul-14 18:02:36
