Does anyone still have a brag book? If not, consider this your brag thread. We thought some of you might want to share a proud moment or funny story about your grandchildren and a dedicated thread might be a good idea. Have they asked you an embarrassing question in the supermarket, announced their future (surprising) profession, or finally mastered reading all by themselves. Share your stories - we'd love to hear them.
So do I. He's such a kind lad but that's lost on some people and difficult to see because of his autism. His social awareness is zero but his technical and spatial awareness are amazing.
At my gcs school, they had a health food inspection of their packed lunches. Those whose lunches included unhealthy food were given a letter to show Mummy. My 5 yr old gd was the only one in her class not to receive one. Think she felt left out. Her mother asked what was in the letter and she retorted "I don't know do I ? I didn't get one !'.
Is it just me but I don't think teachers should be inspecting children's packed lunch boxes. Way back in the 70s I would always put a bar of chocolate in the kids' lunch boxes to give them a bit of fun and some energy. One teacher was always confiscating them and didn't give them back!!!
Surely what a parent wants to put in their child's lunch box is their own business.
I used to put a 'fun size' Mars Bar or Milky Way in their lunch boxes and they seem to have grown into normal, healthy adults! Mind you they also had chicken drumsticks or cold sausages.
I noticed my very health concious DD is putting a cake in GS1's lunch box, but he eats so very little that I imagine she doesn't care what it is as long as it gets swallowed.
My Dgd completed a Go Ape course on Saturday complete with aerial walkways, tree climbing and treetop zip wires. This from a 10 year old who suffers from significant anxiety issues following the death of her father. She was so proud of herself and Dd said she was much more confident when she completed the course. She's learned that even if things are scary, facing up to your fears can have a positive outcome. Very proud of her,
Hi Everyone this is my first ever post on here so i hope it is ok, my name is ethel and i found this thread and thought this would be the perfect place to try. A year ago my grandaughter started dancing lessons at our local community centre with her friend i thought this would be just a faze she was going through, But this week she came to see me and informed that they want her to start doing performances with them around the country well as you can imagine i am a very proud lady right now. i may have to take her shopping and spoil her.
I received a post card from my grand son who was on holiday with his family. He's only eight and had written the card himself and had added the words "I love you so much nan."
I was so proud that he had bought the card and written it himself. It is the first written communication I have received from him - so proud it made me cry.
Grandson aged 4 proudly brought me back a little shell from his holiday and when we were at his house gave it to me very grandly. When the time came to leave, at the front door, he said ' I would like my shell back now Grandma' that must be the shortest time for being given a present and losing it.
I love that rose,.typical of a boy of 4. Did Mum persuade him it was a present? We used to take my Granny some heather from a holiday. ( Not these days of course.)
Before he went on holiday, he told me that he would buy me a present, so I said, just find me a nice shell instead, but when push came to shove, he couldn't bear to give it away.
This is a mummy brag. Minibags had a biology exam on Thursday. I asked her today how her exam had gone. Exam? says she. Yes, the one you had on Thursday, says I. Oh, that, she says, I was top of the class. Oh good! said I.
As many of you will know, my daughter took her children out of school after Christmas in order to home educate them. The boys have high functioning autism, and my granddaughter was being bullied for having different brothers. Today she had her visit from the education department. She passed. In her words, "Mum, I passed my Ofsted report". The lady from the DoE was very impressed with how well the children are doing. Way ahead of their peers. She asked my daughter if she had thought of teaching in school! I am extremely proud of them all!
