I can't comment on the programme as I made the decision not to watch it. I find it wrong, on many levels, that young children are filmed in this way.

Yes- brilliant! I should point out that the little lad that Oscar gives a big cuddle to in the dining area is his cousin, Max, who he plays with a lot so he's used to being man-handled

POGS - I loved that series too. It's different when it's your own flesh and blood that you'r watching though. He wasn't on his best behaviour at the start, but he did improve by the end! I'm hoping we can get a copy of it from the programme makers and watch it with him again when he's older. OH and I were actually in the closing few seconds waiting at the school gates, but blink and you'll miss it.

Yes, Shysal, Oscar is our DGS! It showed him exactly as he was at 4 and a half. He has matured a lot in the last year, as most children do when they start school. Pity they didn't do a follow-up a year later to show how the children have changed. OH and I were shown right at the end for about 2 seconds as we were waiting at the school gates at coming-out time. Head and shoulders only visible! It's repeated tomorrow at 12.30 for anyone who wants a look. Not sure if a different school will be on next week as it said Episode 1 for last night's programme.

Anyone else watch the programme? It was a tear jerker for me, I felt for the ones who were upset, especially little Beth who wouldn't speak in front of the class . Is Oscar your GS granfromafar? DGS had his hair cut to start secondary school, and the girl took too much off. He told me on the phone that they had 'deprived' him of his hair.

The little girl in glasses looks really affronted - either by having a boy's arm round her or being photographed at all!

Sad to say goodbye to the curls, I agree, but they look so grown-up after a haircut, don't they? DGS's Mum insists on gelling his hair which we hate. He's not too keen on it either so wish she wouldn't do it.

My DGS started Year 2 this week and had his hair cut the day before. He looks so vulnerable without all his familiar curls The last time he had it cut was January!

That's lovely, NanKate. My DGS's school have something called 'The Celebration Chair', which I think all the children get a turn in. They have a short ceremony on a Friday afternoon which parents can attend to watch. As we live in the south and he is in Yorkshire, we weren't able to go, but saw the photos

Yes, Alima, it is. Only problem is that we can't do any recording to keep for posterity so hoping that we can get a copy directly from the programme-makers. We will of course be watching tomorrow, but annoyingly will miss next week's episode as we will be out. Don't often watch Channel 5,so hoping that they have a catch-up system like the other channels.

My eldest GS has just started started his second year at Primary and we have seen so many changes in his behaviour over the last year, all for the better. He was fortunate to have a no nonsense experienced teacher to guide him through that first year, she deserves a medal.

When I congratulated him on being given a big brown teddy for the weekend because of his good behaviour (all the children get him at some time) I asked why he had got it and his reply 'Because Mrs F says I am a Role Model' That did make me laugh.

What a wonderful record of DGS's first day at school. I had read about the programme, we are going to watch as our DGS started school yesterday. ( His favourite programme from very early on was Time for School on Ceebibies).
