Congratulates on the new granddaughter Ankers smile
Are you going to tell us any more? Birth weight, hair colour, name??
Have you been to see her yet and is this your first grandchild?
The sort of thing grannies like to hear and share in the joy. ? or ???

Cherrytree59 Thu 09-Feb-17 15:58:05

Me too, me too smile
I did enquire on GN cafe as it was the first birth announcment in the new cafe!

Ankers Thu 09-Feb-17 16:36:21

She is fine. They are fine. smile

I wont do details.

Not very keen on her name, but that seems to be quite usual it seems.
Nothing too horrendous though by a long way.

Birth weight bit above average, plenty for my daughter who is on the small side.

Was only in hospital 6 hours before birth. Would that be why she had lots of stitches? Not sure.

GD has very dark hair, and long for a newborn. Which we were not expecting.

Did I say she is lovely! grin

Do other grannies really want to hear this sort of thing?

nanaK54 Thu 09-Feb-17 16:38:46

Yes we really do!

Congratulations

Cherrytree59 Thu 09-Feb-17 16:45:57

Yes we do want know.
A grandchild is a joysmile

Your grandchild will grow into her name and you will get used to it.

One of my grandsons had a shock of black hair when he was born.
Now at 2 yrs is almost white blonde

Glad that mum & baby are well

Congratulations, Ankers! Hope you are enjoying every moment and that your granddaughter brings you much joy and love.

Sending you this ( non-identifiable) but true image of GD3 on way home from maternity hospital last April! Hope you get as much pleasure as I do.

Congratulations - lovely news.
Very wise not to give too many details- many people are seeing the value of privacy.

Ankers Thu 09-Feb-17 17:46:18

Aw Rinouchka!
She looks adorable!

And thanks everyone else!

Grandchildren are an absolute joy.

Congratulations Ankers! Enjoy being a granny! You've no idea what it's like until it happens, a lovely surprise!

One of my DGD's had a baby girl ( 6lb 3oz blue eyes, quite a lot of dark hair) on Sunday, I saw them on Tuesday back at home. Very peaceful little baby* , her mum is a very calm person. During a short labour she was on gas and air and neither yelled nor swore. Her name in unusual, short, usually a diminutive and may have come from a tv programme. Not from GofT! It's a cute name and suits her already. I am still getting used to the idea of being a GGM!

* so far...

Congratulation Granny Ankers and best wishes to your DD and new arrival, not forgetting Daddy of course!

Yes, we do like to hear the details. I'm sure the name will grow on you and suit her.

Greyduster Thu 09-Feb-17 20:01:28

Congratulations, Ankers! Always nice to hear about a new granny being born ?! Ten years ago on Saturday I was getting my underwear in a twist about an expected heavy fall of snow with DD about to go into labour any day! I thought we would have to call out her F-i-L with his tractor and trailer! Let us have all the details, do!

Greyduster Thu 09-Feb-17 20:06:23

And Elrel many congratulations to you too! I doubt I will ever be a GGM; I'll be grateful to see him get to his majority!

cornergran Thu 09-Feb-17 20:13:55

Congratulations Ankers, enjoy the rush of love. Grandchildren are very special. As for being a great grandmother, Eirel, that's even more special. I'm another thinking I won't get to be a GGM, but you never know, it would be a wonderful thing.

NanKate Thu 09-Feb-17 20:29:16

Lovely to see the photos Rinouchka and Morethan.

My 4 year old GS when having his photo taken rolls his eyes up in an odd way to show the whites. He and his elder bros thinks it's very funny, I try not to encourage them. hmm

So pleased for you Ankers flowers

NanKate Thu 09-Feb-17 20:30:00

Bro not bros.

hulahoop Thu 09-Feb-17 20:34:01

Congratulations ankers and eirel I'm another who doubts very much that that title will ever be mine but happy to have grandchildren .

Auntieflo Thu 09-Feb-17 20:53:34

Can I join In? We became great grandparents on Monday to a baby girl. She is a real chubs, got her GGM legs by the looks of it. I now have to go to bed with a great grandad. grin
